The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Proud to Be Me Rosalinda Part 2
Because Proud to Be Me Rosalinda Part 2 was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

The book follows the life of a championship boxer, Rose, and how she copes with emotional turmoil and betrayal of her faith while also facing other obstacles getting in the way of defending her world title. I wouldn't have read the book based on its blurb as I got to know this is the second book in the series, and I thought reading the first installment is important to understand this one. However, this is an engaging read for those familiar with the female lead and her story. The thing I liked the most is that the author takes the time to build Rose's emotional character along with her drive for professional success. I saw an official OBC review. But I still wouldn't read the whole book as I think reading the first part of the series is absolutely necessary to enjoy this book. As for the editing, I saw a single error in this sentence, "“I’ll be right back,” said Rose, and walked to the drinking fountain." I think a comma is not needed before 'and'. Apart from light proofreading, I would also recommend the author to include something that highlights on Rose's background story so that the readers could enjoy this book even without having to read the first part.

This book's cover and its title tell a lot, and I was curious to learn what it was about, so I would have sampled this book based on its intriguing cover and title. I could have also sampled this book based on its interesting OBC review.
However, upon sampling this book, I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. The conversation between Rose and Simon seemed forced, and the overall tone of the book was too passive for my liking. I won't complete this book.
I didn't notice any errors in the bit I read. I don't have any improvements to suggest for this book.

Were it not for the First Ten Program, I wouldn't have picked this book up because it's the second book in the series, and I don't like to read books out of order of publication. On reading the sample, I found nothing of interest to me, as the dialogues felt awkward and unnatural, and parts of the sample read like a news article reporting on the boxing championship and not a work of fiction. Besides, I didn't like any of the characters.
The book seems professionally edited, as I found only one minor error in a sentence where the word 'headgear' is written as 'head gear'. Here is the sentence: Rose faced Rick, nose to nose, and then gave him a puckered kiss through their head gear. The official OBC review highlighted the fact that it's a book with a strong female character. However, the sample was not enough to show this fact. Hence, I'm not influenced by the review and can't rate this book positively. But I like the cover and the title of the book. People who have read the first book might like this second novel too, as they know more about the characters and plot. As for suggestions for improvement, I think the book should be edited once for minor errors, and the dialogues should be made more appealing. Finally, as I didn't like the sample of this book, I'm not going to read the rest of the book.

Based on its cover and title, I would not have sampled this book because I don't enjoy books revolving around sports. I discovered that the main character was a woman by reading its official OBC review. I really liked that the protagonist is a woman who is making a name for herself in a sport that is mainly associated with men. My only gripe about this book is that I'm not interested in boxing. I found the sample to be well-edited, as I did not find any errors. I do not have any recommendations for improvement.

I wouldn't have read this book outside the program because it's the second book in the series. I haven't read the first one, and I'm not sure it can be read as a standalone. Reading the sample didn't change my mind. I found the writing style rather bland and uninteresting. It was also repetitive when I constantly read how Rose's punches on the punching bag kept interrupting Simon's thoughts. Even when he started talking to her before and after she paused for a drink of water, it was the same thing about how much she reminded him of himself in his younger days. Here's a different, direct example. Rose had said, "...so I'll see you tomorrow to start another day. Tell Amy I said hello." Then Simon responded, saying, "Okay. I'll see you tomorrow and I'll tell Amy you said hello. Take care." This is a classic recipe for boredom, and I caught it quick.
The book appears to be professionally edited. Still, I saw an error in the sentence, "I think I had enough for today, anyway..." It should be, "I think I've had enough for today, anyway..." The repetitive nature of the writing should be worked on; this is my recommendation for improvement. I saw an OBC review, but it didn't influence my decision.

This book's cover didn't entice me to read it, and the OBC review dissuaded me when it mentioned that the author narrates a young woman's boxing career. That storyline doesn't appeal to me, so I won't read the rest of the book. When I read the first ten pages, I liked that Rose was determined to remain the champion, and she pushed herself to become better. I, however, thought it was boastful of her to let everyone know that she was the best fighter in the ring. I spotted no errors in the text, so I will conclude that it underwent professional editing. There's nothing I disliked about the bit I read, so I wouldn't change anything about it.

If it's not for this program, I wouldn't read this. Based on the official review from OnlineBookClub and the blurb, this book is not my cup of tea. Besides, there are no ratings on Amazon. The sample features Rose's life after she became a boxing champion.
I like the topic of boxers. The editing seems fine. However, the story is quite bland and vague. I haven't read its prequel yet, so I don't really understand the plot. I think the author should explain the context first. Since the book can't pique my interest, I won't buy it.
Error example: Don't' give up and give into doubt. -> Redundant apostrophe. It should be "Don't give up"

The cover photo already indicates that this book is about a boxing carrier, which I can't relate. I will not read the rest of the book because the story doesn't pique my interest. I can't relate to any sports activities because I'm not interested in sports matter. I like the simple language being used for a non-English speaking person like me. I noticed some fragments, but I guess it was being used as a style of writing, so I still assumed this book was professionally edited. I read a beautiful OBC review of the book, but it doesn't influence my decision. There's nothing I can recommend for improvement because the fans of this genre will surely love this novel.

I wouldn’t have sampled the book based on the blurb, as I wasn’t interested in the premise. I like how the book begins with Rose practicing her punches inside the gym while Simon is working at his office. I am not interested in the premise, so I’m not going to read the book. The OBC review also helped influence my decision. I disliked nothing, and I didn’t see anything that needed improvement. The text is well edited.

I wouldn't have sampled this book based on the blurb. When I found out that it's the second book in a series, I decided not to read it. The sample and the OBC review didn't change my mind. In the first ten pages, the protagonist was working hard to maintain her title as a boxing champion. Her trainer approached her to say he was proud of her progress. She was training for a rematch with her strong opponent. I like the determination of the main character in proving her worth. However, I'm not into stories related to boxing. The book seems professionally edited, so I don't have suggestions for improvements.

Both the title and cover page piqued my interest in this book. They insinuated that this is a memoir, a genre I find fascinating. Honestly, I didn't find anything to like from the sample. It was quite slow-paced. I didn't find any objective typographical errors, and I believe it was exceptionally edited. Having sampled it and read the OBC review, I will not buy this book because don't find pleasure in reading sportsbooks. Lastly, I didn't find anything worth improving, and there are no suggestions I can recommend for this book.

I do not think that I would have read this book without the program. This is because I do not prefer reading a sequel before reading its prequel. In the first ten pages, we are introduced to a Rose who is the current boxing lightweight world champion. She meets up with her boyfriend and practices intently before her match to defend her championship. The narration is good and easy to understand. The plot is good and I think the story is also pretty decent. The synopsis was interesting as well. However, I am not going to buy and read this book as I am not interested in reading a book before reading its prequel. This is because I feel that a lot of contexts is lost when you miss the sequel. No typos were found in the first ten pages. I found nothing to improve in the first ten pages. The official OBC review is present and the reviewer rates it highly.

I would not have sampled this book based on the genre, blurb, OBC review, cover and title. It is the second book in a series, and I didn’t read the first. I don’t like to start mid-series. After reading the first ten pages, I won’t be finishing this book. The writing was redundant, which could use some improvement. For example, in one section it mentioned 4 times that everyone was gone from the gym for the day. It only needed to be stated once, maybe twice. I also noticed errors that told me the book wasn’t professionally edited. For example, “she hears him” was in the present tense, while the rest of the story is in the past tense. I don’t purchase books that aren’t edited. There isn’t anything specific that I liked.

Before reading the book's first pages, I wasn't interested in it because nothing on the cover or the title got my attention. After sampling the book, I don't want to continue reading it because the story didn't captivate me. I felt lost due to the fact that this was a sequel, so, for example, I had no idea who was Rick or why he was important and had to infer it from the context. This book seems professionally edited and has an official Online BookClub review. I didn't like the third-person narration because it made it harder to relate to the characters and know what they were feeling but I hardly think it's something that can be improved. There was nothing in particular I enjoyed about the book.

Without the First Ten program I would not have wanted to read a book about a female boxer. Reading the first ten pages did not change my mind. The presence of an OnlineBookClub review did not influence my decision.
The book seemed to be professionally edited. I have no suggestions for improvements. It was difficult to find something that I particularly liked best about the bit I read. I suppose the task might have been easier if I had an interest in boxing.
The only part that I found slightly interesting was how Rose was able to inspire Sara to try her hardest to be the best she could be both in the ring and out. Even more impressive was that Rose wasn't necessarily trying to be an inspiration. She was simply giving her all to everything she did and Sara noticed (location 175).
Readers who enjoy boxing would probably like this book, but I'm going to pass.

If I had not been a member of this program, it is unlikely that I would have encountered this book. Although I do often read fiction, my tastes run more toward sci-fi/fantasy, and those are the areas I normally peruse. As this novel is not in either of those genres, even if I had run across it, nothing in particular about the cover or title would have caught my attention. I am unfamiliar with the author, so that would not have affected my decision. The blurb gives the reader a good summary of the book's plot and reveals that the book is the second in a series. As I do not like beginning a series in the middle, I immediately decided not to continue reading the book after the sample. I am not fond of boxing, and the official OBC review revealed that there are many instances of detailed matches within the novel. That was another strike against reading the book. There were no customer reviews on the Amazon site to consider, not even an OBC review. If I had seen a review from OBC there, I would have been interested in what the reviewer had to say. The fact that the sample covered little except parts of Rose's training did nothing to interest me in the book. Conversations, such as the one between Rose and Simon, seemed oddly formal for a trainer/boxer relationship, especially since they seem to be friends as well. This did not strike me as realistic. My decision not to read the book remains firm. The book seemed well-edited. I found no 'countable' errors in the sample.

The cover and title seem totally in keeping with the story. I think they would appeal to the target audience, especially those who have already read the first installment. I think this novel includes much drama, which is not my cup of tea. The blurb mentions that Rosalinda's passion for boxing has made her a star, both in the United States and her country of Mexico. Although her dream of being a professional boxer has come true, her life remains filled with challenges and obstacles. There are no customer reviews for this book. Based on these aspects, I am not excited to try this book. The sample focuses on Rose and everything related to her training. She worked hard to improve her punch and get better every day. She was preparing to face the Vipress again, whom she had already defeated to obtain the title of champion. The sample ends just as they are fighting for the second time in an exciting and highly publicized combat. Another relevant character is Rick who is Rose's boyfriend. Some things happen between them which suggest their relationship is not going to continue quite well. Rose and the Vipress' fame and media coverage of their match sounds a bit of a stretch as women's boxing doesn't get as much publicity. The official OnlineBookClub review indicates that this story shows other aspects of a boxer's career like relational difficulties. The editing looks professional as I didn't see any details to comment on. As a whole, I did not see anything that I believe could be improved. The plot seems carefully constructed, but I'm not a boxing fan. Plus, I have not read the first installment yet. Therefore, I think I will not read the rest of the book, at least in the near future.

I am not a big fan of boxing. Therefore, I probably would have skipped sampling this book if it wasn’t for this program. On the other hand, peeking into the world of professional athletes was interesting. Unfortunately, I did not like the way this story was presented. The narration felt too straight-forward and couldn’t fully engage my attention. I was not convinced about the quality of the editorial work either, although I can not say for sure why. Rose was an interesting character, as there are not that many professional women boxers. The Official OnlineBookClub review informed me that this book was actually a sequel. I always prefer reading series in right order, and therefore, this information sealed the destiny of this book for me. I already had so many doubtful thoughts about this book that it was quite clear I'd pass reading the whole story.

The title and cover tell me this is the second book in the story of Rosalinda, a female boxer. The blurb mentions that she is now a world titlist. I don't want to start a series in the middle, so I wouldn't have sampled the book outside of the program. The sample did refer to previous incidents (e.g., an accident and a man named Rob) which threw me off. I also found the dialogue stilted (particularly the misunderstanding between Rick and Rose while sparring). I hope the author can remedy those issues. I noticed a couple of errors, as well. Most were in the Dedication: "The pain and determinations they go through of becoming a well-known fighter or best of all, a Champion" needed "in" instead of "of" after "through; "determinations" should have been singular and "champion" not capitalized. "Don't give up and give into doubt" should have used "in to." I do appreciate that the author seems familiar with the sport based on the blow-by-blow account of the moves in the ring. But I am no boxing fan, so I may be wrong. The featured official OBC reviewer also questioned the mention of "Rob." This confirmed my decision to pass on the book.

I have always been strangely interested in boxing, and have seen a number of women fighting. For that reason, I quite liked the look of this book of the day today. After reading the OBC reviewer’s comments, I thought this would be an interesting book to have a closer look at. Even the title and cover design were quite powerful and appealing, so my first impressions were good. The sample provided a fairly enjoyable read, and it gave an outline of what the training and schedule of a boxer might entail which served as a good introduction to the story. However, I cannot say that there was anything I particularly enjoyed about the sample. What put me off a little was the lack of maturity in the writing, and the way the author seems to string ideas together without adequate thought to sequencing and character introductions. I also saw some lapses from past tense to present tense which spoilt the flow of the story somewhat. I did note a small error in the misplaced apostrophe after the word “don’t” in the dedication, and all things considered, I suspect this book has not been professionally edited. I believe some rewriting and cutting with more care given to sequencing might help to make this story more enjoyable. I won’t read any more of this book as the writing is too cumbersome to offer me a pleasant read.

The cover with both the US and Mexican flags was colorful. I liked the picture of the girl boxer. The title did not interest me since it was Part 2, and I had not read Part 1. The blurb made the story sound like it would be YA, but it was not listed as such. The OBC review was 2 out of 4 which made me not want to read the book. It also stated that it was not recommended for young adults due to sexual content. I did not see any errors in the pages that I read. I did not like the style of the dialogue. It felt unnatural. I am not going to finish reading the book because it is part 2. I do not have any suggestions for the author.

I couldn't guess the content of the book based on the title, but the cover gave me a clear idea about it. The blurb didn't interest me, as I'm not fond of sports-themed books. The Official OnlineBookClub review had good things to say about it, but I had made up my mind about not reading it. After reading the first ten pages, I have decided to stick to my decision of not continuing with the book. I liked the way women were portrayed in the book. Rose had won the championship and worked even harder after that. She was determined and didn't let the fame get to her head. Even though she was the protagonist, there were mentions of other women and possible future opponents and their achievements, like Echo, Vipress, and The Cobra. Despite this, the book did not grab my attention. I did not find any errors in the book, so it seems professionally edited, and I don't think it needs any improvement.

Following my poring over the book's Amazon page and official OBC review, I opted not to purchase the title. I did not find myself interested in reading about how Rose will manage to balance her career as a championship boxer and her personal life filled with another set of problems. The title on hand is the second installment in a series, but I have not yet read the first book. Perusing its sample failed to change my mind. I would not acquire it because nothing in the story fascinated, intrigued, or compelled me to pore over the remaining chapters of the book. I believe the title is not my cup of tea. The first ten pages contain the first two chapters and a few pages of the third chapter. My favorite part is when Simon admitted to Rose that he saw his past self in her while she was practicing. I did not identify any errors in the text. I believe the book is professionally edited. I have nothing to suggest to the author.

I got the impression from the cover and title that this book has an inspirational story of a boxer. Therefore, I decided to read an OBC official review of this book to know more about this particular boxer. The OBC official review gave me the idea that the book follows the rising career of a championship boxer called Rose. This information motivated me to read the sample of the book before purchasing it. When I read the first ten pages, I realized that this book is not professionally edited because I found some grammatical errors in the sample. For example, the sentence, "The publicity drummed up an extraordinary event where the two most opposite fighters would face off in a couple weeks in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand." The sentence could have been as follows. "The publicity drummed up an extraordinary event where the two most opposite fighters would face off in a couple of weeks in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand." The thing l liked the most is the willpower of Rose to become a boxing champion, which was evident from her hard practice sessions. Unfortunately, there were many characters as different boxers, and the focus of the narrative was shifting to each of them rather quickly. I found the task of focusing on the story to be a substantial mental workout. This reason pushed me off this book. I would suggest the author for a round of professional editing and look at my problems as described above. After looking at all these aspects, I decided not to purchase and read this book today. I will wait until the author looks at my suggestions so that while reading this book, I can dive deep into the story and enjoy it.

The cover of this book tells a good story and I liked the bright colors. At first glance, however, there were a few issues that jumped out at me in this book that makes it seem like it is not professionally edited. The first was sentence structure. The first sentence seems to be two fragmented sentences.”All you could hear from a dim area inside Simon’s gym sounded like a leather bag being slapped with a two-by-four.” The second issue is in the writing style and how it is telling the reader instead of showing the reader, which has a tendency to cause the narrative to drag. Or these reasons, I don’t plan to buy and read the whole book. I would suggest that improvements would be to work on the sentence structure and do more writing of scenes as they happen rather than just listing things as it seems to be now. What I liked most about what I read was how focused the main character seemed to be. I know that will appeal to readers. I enjoyed reading the Official Online Book Club review of this book. It offered great insights into it’s content.

Looking at the title and cover, the book seems like a piece of realist fiction with strong sports themes. I am not in the market for such genres, so I would not have sampled the book. I have read a positive OBC review of the book for BOTD, but I would not have changed my mind regarding sampling because of the genre mismatch. I have also spotted a number of errors. For example, at 4% in the sample, there is a missing comma to mark the introductory word of the second independent clause in this sentence: "...to close it, but instead(,) when he looked out...". I suggest closer editing of the book to improve its quality. Still, I like that the author has included little details about the character that are not necessary to further the plot, which helps to flesh out characters, making for a more immersive reading experience for the readers. An example would be how Simon is not really able to focus on his work, when he can hear Rose's pounding of the sandbag for her boxing practice. His focus is not there, so he stands up to close the door to muffle the sounds. However, he finds himself looking at Rose and becoming impressed with with her tenacity and grit, as well as her drive to remain the champion. Other than the need for more editing, I do not have further suggestions for improvement. I will not be buying the book today, as I am not in the market for books with sports themes (boxing, to be more specific).

The cover and title drew my attention and I would have chosen to buy the book based on these, had I not read the first ten pages. The official OBC review as well as the first ten pages confirmed my initial response. I liked the boxing scenes as well as the bit of romance. There were no errors and nothing needs to be improved. The book seems to be professionally edited. I look forward to reading the book.

The book would not have been something I would have sampled since it was the second in the series. I did like the dialogue as it was uplifting. There were some errors that I noted, particularly in tense. "She hears him and stops." The rest of the paragraph was written in a past tense, and this would have worked better as heard and stopped. I would not suggest any changes to the story beyond another round of editing. There was an OBC review, but it did not influence my choice to pass on the book. I prefer to read series books in order, and there was mention of someone named Rob, who seems to have been important to the plot.

I wasn't interested in the genre. So, despite the 3-stars rating of the official OBC review, I did not want to read the book. I failed to find any glaring error in the first ten pages. The pages described how Rose chose to stay in the ring and practise even after everyone else went home. Simon praised her for her tenacity. I did not particularly like anything on those pages. The narrative sounded a little repetitive and there was at least one instance of abrupt change of tense. The author could improve these aspects. Based on my reading experience, I wouldn't read the entire book.

If it wasn't for the First Ten program, I wouldn't sample this book based on its title, cover, or Official OnlineBookClub review because I am not a boxing fan, and I have not read the first book. After reading the first ten pages, I will not continue to read the rest because of the same reasons mentioned previously. The boxing parts did not interest me, and it was difficult to enjoy the characters without knowing their backgrounds. My favorite part of the sample was Rose's determination. I thought her determination was very inspiring. The book seemed professionally edited overall, and I don't think it needs improvement. In Location 95, there was a sentence in present tense while everything else was in past tense ("She hears him and stops.").

Jesse Moreno has penned a riveting story in this second instalment—telling the story of Rose, a champion in women boxing game. The story began well, and I would confess that the earlier a few pages were well written. As we search for what motivates Rose, the author also features her romantic relationship with Rick. That was commendable. If not for the fact that I’m not a fan of boxing sports, I would have finished reading this book. However, I think both the book’s cover page and the title were catchy. The author did a good job in editing the book—I didn’t find any objective error in the sample, though the sample was very brief. The official Online Book Club review was insightful enough to answer most of the questions I would have before selecting this book. After reading the sample, I’m not going to finish reading this book because of the previously mentioned reasons. I have no advice for the author; I believe the book is well-written, and it will appeal to those who cherish boxing games.

Proud to Be Me Rosalinda Part 2 by Jesse Moreno is a fiction book that brings Rosalinda, a championship boxer who is also a fascinating character. If I didn't sample this book, I wouldn't read it based on its Official OnlineBookClub review since I'm not interested in books about sports, such as boxing. After sampling it, I didn't change my mind and I won't read the entire book because I'm not interested in sports, but also because the book didn't seem to portray boxing with realism. I didn't notice errors while sampling this book, so I can say that the beginning of the book was professionally edited, but the Official OnlineBookClub review talked about a great amount of errors in this book. Besides, it could be improved if the author studied more the subject of boxing in order to create more realistic fighting scenes. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the dialogues in the sample since they seemed dynamic and fast.

I would not chose to read this book because I am not a fan of books about boxing. The book also a part 2. I don’t usually start with the second book in a series. After reading the sample and an official Online Book Club Review, this book seems to focus mostly on the fighting which does. Not interested me. I will not buy or finish this book. I did not see any errors, so this book seems professionally edited. I liked how supportive the characters are of each other. This book could be improved with more added to the story that is not about fighting.

I didn’t read Rosalinda I, and I’m not into boxing, so I would not have sampled this book if I were not part of this program. The cover was designed well and seemed to capture the key elements of the story. As I read the first ten pages, I had this feeling of impending doom because I knew from the blurb that Rose’s boyfriend would betray her. I was suspicious of every other character mentioned as well. Sometimes the dialog seemed a bit stiff between Rose and Simon in the first chapter; I don’t think they would speak so formally to each other. I will not buy this book. I would be too tense, looking out for Rose’s next betrayal—I want her character to succeed. I did not notice any grammatical errors in the first ten pages, and I have no suggestions for improvement. The featured OnlineBookClub review had no bearing on my decision.

By seeing 'Part II' on the book cover, I would not pick this book up if I would see it in a bookstore, because I have not read the first installment. The cover clearly shows that this is a book about boxing. The blurb and OBC review give a good description. However, the fact that the reviewer mentions that there are many spelling errors, discourages me to read this book. I did not notice any errors in the sample, but I found the writing style a bit childish. The short sentences and repeated wordings annoyed me. For example, in the first few pages, the author mentions seven times, in different ways, that Rose is punching the bag. I do not need so many repetitions to get the message. This is the reason why I will not buy this book. I have no suggestions for improvement.

The story follows the journey of a talented boxing champion named Rose, who is determined to defend her world championship title. Things, however, get pretty complicated when her boyfriend's betrayal risks putting her career in jeopardy. As this is the second book in a series, I would not have read the book without this program. Unsurprisingly, I did not change my mind after sampling the book and reading the OBC review. I enjoyed the fast-paced, descriptive writing style, but I did not feel invested in the story. More importantly, I would suggest that the author include a summary of the previous book at the beginning of the story; I felt pretty confused about some characters when I started reading the first four chapters. As I encountered some distracting errors, I would also suggest another round of editing. For example, it should be written "uppercut" in the following sentence: "She landed a powerful upper cut on her jaw." (location 321 of 362 • 89%) It should be written "When I saw you punching the bag, my thoughts took me back to when I used to compete in boxing. . ." instead of "When I saw you punching the bag, my thoughts took me back when I used to compete in boxing. . ." (location 96 of 362 • 26%)

The cover makes me think this is not a book I would enjoy because it doesn't fit my taste. Boxing is not a field I feel comfortable reading about, so I wasn't going to check this book out. The OBC review informed me about the book, but it didn't change my mind. Rose seems like an amazing character. She is very determined. I also like how Simon encourages her. However, I'm not interested in this subject enough to read a whole book about it. The fact that this is the second book is also a problem for me. As the reviewer said, maybe a proper description of the events of the first book would help improve this book. I didn't notice any grammar errors.

If I had not sampled the first ten pages of this book, I would have likely not chosen to read it based on the synopsis and cover. I can tell from both that the story revolves around a female boxer who is battling with emotional turmoil, and the premise just doesn't interest me. Plus, I saw that this was the second installment in the series, and I'm very strayed from reading the second book in a series without already reading and enjoying the first well enough to continue. For the reasons listed above, I'm choosing not to continue reading this one. I noticed in the OBC Official Review that the reviewer mentioned finding multiple spelling errors throughout the story, though I did not locate any within the first ten pages, though I did feel like the language used was rather basic. There was nothing within the story that I especially liked well enough to point it out, but there was equally nothing in the story that I significantly disliked. Overall this one seems like an interesting read for someone who already has a taste for boxing or an enjoyment for the sport and enjoys some emotional tugs that can hinder the boxer if they are not able to compartmentalize their emotions.

After reviewing the title, genre, cover, blurb, and review of this book, I would not have read this book. I'm not one to read sports books and this one didn't sound that interesting. After reading the first ten pages I didn't change my mind and therefore will not be buying and reading the rest of this book. I enjoyed the scene with Rick and Rose sparring. It highlights the two key aspects of the book, romance and boxing, that the book will be focusing on. That being said, This just isn't the kind of book I would read and I haven't read the first in the series either. The book looked well written and edited; I didn't see any errors in the sample that I read. The thing I would have improved from the sample I read is to improve some of the book's phrasing to make it sound more natural. For example, I don't think that Simon would use the term "comely, beautiful girl". There was an official OBC review, but it did not affect my decision at all.

This book has an interesting cover and blurb. The online book club review was excellent. This book seemed professionally edited as I found no errors in the sample that I read. I liked that the book has a strong female lead character but unfortunately I won't be continuing this book. I don't particularly like sport-related stories

I would choose to read a sample of this book because of the cover. The title of the book seems too ordinary to me and does not represent an association on the topic of the book, as a good title should do. The cover of the book is superbly designed, they are attractive and clear. I’m not going to read the book because it’s not the genre I prefer. While reading the sample I didn’t notice any typos or errors and the book seems like it is professionally edited. Reading the sample didn’t change my mind from my original guess. I like how Rose’s training is described because it seems very authentic. I was expecting a more impressive and dynamic start to the book, and I think that should be improved. The book has an Official OnlineBookClub review.

If I had not read the sample as part of the First Ten program, I would not have read the book. The cover looks a little tacky and I think there is just too much text on it. After reading the sample, I have not changed my mind. The writing was just not great; it was a lot of "tell, not show" with unnecessary lines about someone walking. I also noticed inconsistent tense use — sometimes it was past tense ("he yelled out her name") and the next line would be present tense ("she hears him and stops"). Therefore I think more editing is needed. There was nothing I liked. The official review on OnlineBookClub did not affect my decision.

'Proud to be Me Rosalinda Part 2' is a book written by Jesse Moreno. Rose's story continues. She is a hardworking boxer. Simon is her trainer. Rose is all set to defend her world championship title. There is a disagreement of tenses in "She hears him and stops. He walked toward her as she waited." The entire paragraph is in past tense. Only the line, "She hears him and stops.." is written in the present tense. The editing could be better. Also, I believe we could have got some background about the first book in the series. This can improve. The OBC review is detailed. I would skip this book based on the cover, title, genre, blurb, editorial reviews, and customer reviews as I have not read the first book. I will skip this book as I do not wish to start this book without reading the first one.

If Proud to Be Me Rosalinda Part 2 hadn't been the OnlineBookClub's book of the day, I likely would not have read the sample of it. The title implies that this is a sequel to another book in the series, which is why I would not have read it. I love Rose's determination and confidence in defending her title; female readers who enjoy boxing will love this aspect greatly. I do not understand this sport well and I do not enjoy it, so I have decided that I am skipping the book. While I did not see any grammatical errors in the sample, there is one thing that I think could be improved. Rose's trainer makes mention of a character who is important to Rose, but there is no indication of who this person is. A small amount of background information should help this book become more readable as a standalone. There is an official OnlineBookClub review for this title, but I did not need to read it to make a decision.

I am not into boxing and will skip this book outside the program. The cover hints about the story but is not very eye-catching. The title is a bit long, which makes it quite hard to recall. The blurb gives a clear description of the plot. Customer reviews are not available. After sampling, I appreciate that it promotes awareness about the sport by looking into the complex world of female boxers. However, the initial pages are about details on training and the schedule of matches. I prefer more intrigue and mystery to pique my curiosity. Hence, I will not continue reading the book. There are some editing issues, and here are examples.
Location 208. Spelling. Consider joining the words.
Rose faced Rick, nose to nose, and then gave him a puckered kiss through their head gear.

Location 243. Grammar. Consider changing the preposition.

I have no suggestions for improvement. Likewise, the official OnlineBookClub reviews are equally insightful. But I will still skip this one.

I would not have picked this book up based on the cover alone. From the cover art, it looks to be about boxing. I am not a fan of boxing. Also, the title says this is part 2 of an existing series. I haven’t read the first book, so I wouldn’t want to read part 2 before I read that. The Online Book Club review was very positive and gave the book a perfect score. This increased my interest in reading the first book. I still would not be interested in starting with the second book in the series. I didn’t read any additional customer reviews. The first ten pages start with Rose working out in the gym. She’s boxing and Simon calls her over to tell her how much she has improved and how much he likes being her trainer. They seem to have a very supportive relationship. He talks to her as though she were his daughter. I didn’t see any errors in the first ten pages, so I believe the book was professionally edited. I also didn’t see any area that the author could improve upon. The first ten pages make me interested in the series. I may start reading the first book. However, I will not finish reading this book based on the first ten pages.

I would not have checked this book out based on the cover and title because I am not a fan of boxing. After I read the OBC review, I still did not have a desire to read the book. Reading the sample was interesting and I did get involved in the story somewhat. I wanted to know if Rose won the rematch fight in Las Vegas, but the sample left me hanging on a cliff. As I read through the sample with the detailed descriptions of fights I once again wondered why anyone would choose boxing as their sport of choice. You know going in you are going to feel pain, will probably get hurt bad at some point, and will probably always be sporting some scars. Rose was proud of her accomplishments and continued to train hard to get better and tougher everyday. I did not find any errors in the portion I read, nor did I find anything that needs improving. I admit I found myself engrossed in the story when I read the sample; however, this is not a book I would be able to stay focused in by reading more accounts of fights, how who hit who, and who won. I have decided to pass on reading this one since I am not a fan of boxing.

I like the powerful cover, and I feel moved to see my flag in a book cover. The blurb is well-explained, and it ends in a question, which always works to hook the reader. I don't care much for sports like boxing, I didn't read the first installment of the story, and the book lacks ratings, which is why I wouldn't have chosen to buy this book based on my first impressions.
I have mixed feelings about the first ten pages. On the one hand, I like that the sport is not over-glamorized, and Rose is not made to be some sort of vixen. We see this, for example, when the author says "The gym still had a slight smell of sweat from all the fighters who had trained that day." What I disliked is that the author heavily favors telling instead of showing. I would've liked to see, for example, the paparazzi pestering Rose, and not just reading "The media and paparazzi followed Rose everywhere she set foot. There was always somebody around waiting to take pictures and ask questions about her upcoming fights." The same happens later on when "She was happy for him and wished him the best of good luck when he told her that he was leaving for three weeks." That clearly could've been a dialogue.
There are a couple of editing mistakes. The first one is in position 68, where "willpower" should be spelled as one word: "The countless hours they spent sweating, the will power, the pain and determinations they go through of becoming a well-known fighter." I would suggest including more action and more dialogues and fixing the minor editing mistakes. I find the narrative style boring. That's the main reason why I won't read the book, and the official OBC review didn't change my mind about this.

This book has an interesting blurb. However, it seems important to read the books in the series in order. I don't like to read them out of order anyway. After reading the sample, I haven't changed my mind. I like that the story is centered around female boxer Rose. Nevertheless, the writing is more telling than showing. This book has an informative Official Onlinebookclub review. The review mentioned errors, but in the sample, I didn't notice any. I wouldn't change anything about the book as all of my notions are subjective.

The cover of this book is definitely intriguing. It has a lot of bright colors that pop and are eye-catching. However, the story is not one that I would particularly enjoy reading. Based on the review and sample pages, it does not sound like a genre that I am particularly interested in. I would probably not buy or read the full book. I did not find any errors in the few pages I read. I liked the introduction to the book and the premise sounds interesting.

I have nothing against the cover, title, or genre, but I would not have checked this book out because it is the second book in a series. The blurb makes me curious about what crimes Echo committed against Rose and Rob, but the OnlineBookClub review clarifies that Rob is not explained in this book. I am disappointed that there are no editorial or customer reviews to let me know if the plot picks up as the story moves forward. I am not a fan of boxing, so I did not enjoy reading about training and fighting in the first ten pages. I do like the author’s writing style and the flow of the plot in this book. The first ten pages appear to have been edited by a professional editor as I did not see any errors. However, the OnlineBookClub review states the book has many errors. I have no recommendations for the author. I will not buy and read this book until I can read the first book in the series.

I don't read books that are sequels, especially when the topic doesn't interest me. From the Official OBC Review, I didn't get any information that would compel me to want to read this book. The Official Review also awarded only 3 stars, another red flag to read this book. Therefore, I won't be reading it beyond the Amazon sample. What I disliked most was the dialogue, which was stilted, unrealistic, and boring. As a recommendation for improvement, I suggest that the author read the dialogue out loud, listening to it so he can tell when it doesn't sound real, then adjust it accordingly. What I liked most was the cover. Although it's kind of busy, I liked the image of the boxer and the juxtaposition of the red gloves and green robe with the blue background. I assume that the book was professionally edited as I found no errors.

Total ~ 2%
Proud to Be Me Rosalinda Part 2 earned a score of 2%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 2% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
