I'd probably really like a romance book if I could find the right one. Maybe it'll happen someday. Mostly I avoid books dealing with heavy subject matter. My preference is more of a fantasy focus with an adventurous or mysterious feeling. I like books to be an escape, a journey to somewhere fun.

Horror books because I just can't imagine going ahead to read a book that will leave me scared and paranoid. I also don't appreciate romance novel that much.

Erotica and white supremacy propaganda; I had the displeasure to read a bit of both genres not long ago. I'll do my best to stay away from those two genres for the rest of my life if possible. The first make me sick to the point of vomit, and the second is just hate and that's too dense for me, I don't like hate.

I'm not a fan of horror of any kind, so no horror books for me. Maybe in October I'll read something a bit spooky to fit the mood but that's about it.

I don't read much romance either, the Nicholas Sparks kind of book is not my thing, but I'll read one now and then, especially if I've just finished a particularly heavy and emotional book maybe.

But honestly I considered myself a pretty omnivorous reader, if the story seems interesting enough I'll read anything

I will typically steer clear of romance novels. They remind me of fairytales of my childhood - the kind that make you subconsciously create unrealistic expectations! I have a hard time connecting and relating to the characters in these books. Perhaps, there are some more modern versions that don't portray women as submissive and needy creatures...alas, I may never know!

SciFy as I’m really just not interested and while the world building can be interesting, I also often find it a bit confusing.

I also avoid Romance as I usually read for a good plot and don’t really want Smut. Romance makes me uncomfortable sometimes due to the intimacy, and a good book should be a friend.

Horror also isn’t really my thing especially since I read at night and I scare easily, though I love a good crime novel. I enjoy the occasional horror movie and will pick up Stephen King, but it’s no something that often brings me joy.

I twnd ro stay away from fiction that is what I refer to as “hard reality”. Reading is such a pleasurable escape for me; I love to read books that are funny, witty, mystery, fantasy, horror, or something light-hearted. I struggle enough in my own life.

Horror and non fiction books on finance topics

Horror is just too much for my mind these days, I occasionally will read a mystery or thriller but true horror.

Finance books are just boring to me and I’m bad at math so I just can’t make sense of it

The genre of books that I stay clear of most of the time is historical I mean I could literally sleep within 30 minutes of reading a historical book and I never finish it because of how much bored I get

Romance. I'm not a romantic person (just the opposite) so it kind of bores me. I need more action/adventure, sci fi, fantasy or thriller/horror otherwise it ends up being more like a chore or an assignment you have to read for English class. Perhaps I read too many teen romance books when I was a teenager (Sweet Valley High, Sweet Dreams, etc) that kind of turned me off. I don't mind the occasional one, but not all the time like my Mom prefers (she's more family orientated, like some of my aunts, but I'm more like my stepfather in book preferences, movies etc.).
