recommendations please - books about young love in the 1950s

I am looking for some light fiction for the summer. For some reason I am craving a simple story about teenagers or college students dating and falling in love in the 1950s. I want more substance than a Harlequin romance but not something you'd be forced to read in an English class...

Kind of like "Grease" in a novel.

This book is on my to-read shelf: Book of Love, by William Kotzwinkle. Although I haven't gotten to the book yet the movie is great.
