Yes I think so. To be writer you need to be able to understand the reader's mind and know what gives them the most joy and this can only be done by experiencing it for yourself.

Absolutely! Writing is an art and to know the craft you must read. Most writers are avid readers at least the best of them are. I'm an aspiring writer and one of the first things I was taught that to write you must read, read, read.

Yes, i think to be a great writer, you need to be a great reader.Let me just use the analogy of athletics, you can't be a great runner if you don't know how to walk. So reading is quite essential and very core.

Yes, reading can improve your vocabulary and expand the use of your imagination. A good writer will have to use his/her own stock of vocabulary and imagination to express a thought or idea.

This is a common point of discussion between my husband and me. I would argue that yes, it's important to read in order to know how to develop a plot and have well-rounded characters.
As long as you're able to still have original ideas, and not just lean on what you've read to create your story.

Absolutely! Reading expands your literary horizon, broadens your vocabulary, and exposes you to various styles and techniques of writing. A good writer will always seek a source of inspiration and influence to boost their creative impulses.

I think anyone can set their thoughts down, but the best authors tend to be avid readers. Reading improves your vocabulary and understanding of what makes writing good. One of my first writing instructors told me, "Before you can effectively break the rules of writing, you need to first understand them." That's always stuck with me.
