Reading can be a hobby when I’m just trying to source for information. Reading is a skill when trying to use it to succeed academically.

Reading itself is not a skill. But making various and logical inferences from the work you read is a real skill.

A hobby if reading for fun, escapism or simply addiction. Yes there are plenty of addicted readers out there.
Reading also can be a skill for academic purposes or career i.e. The journalists who only have limited time to gather informations from the books.

Reading can become both a hobby and a skill, and I believe they can go hand in hand because as reading skills improve, they enhance our hobbies, making them better.

for me, it's a hobby. reading provides enjoyment, relaxation, and an escape into different worlds and ideas. I can see how it can be a skill, especially among students since it develops knowledge. It all comes down to intention.

Reading can be both a hobby and a skill. It can be a hobby when used for fun and to relax. It can be used as a skill in work related environment for example teaching others how to read

I like to think of it as it because as a hobby generally our mind tend to relax, emphatize or get inmersed in the story we are reading which becomes a more subjective and personal activity. But in terms of skill, we can improved this act and become more critical of it, what we choose or pay attention to, and even what we analyze and comment. Of course, everyone would developed it according to their interests or decide to concentrate in the emotion, but I think the skill would be predominant and personalized what we get of the hobby.

It is definitely a hobby for me. However I think if someone struggles to read, it would become a skill. I read for pleasure.

I'd say both. Reading is a skill that every one in the world needs to have, but not everyone gets the opportunity to learn it. And those who are fortunate enough to have picked up the skill have the choice of pursuing reading as a hobby.

I think it can be both, it is definitely a hobby and then becomes a skill too. Reading for work or school is a skill at times, especially if you’re reading research papers or old writing. Reading in your free time is a hobby and then there’s skill with the speed you read and level of comprehension you can retain at that speed.

For me reading is a hobby. Classifying it as a skill would mean I only read to earn money, which takes out all the fun in reading

Thinking of reading as a skill kills the vibe for me. Because I would be reading for money. But when I do reading as a hobby, I have fun and enjoy myself. So to me, reading is a hobby

Reading can be both a hobby and a skill . A hobby in the sense that you are very passionate while reading and a skill in the sense that you can draw important life lessons from the books you read, in the way most people just can't
