Re: The cover of the book

I don't care about the title because in my favorite genres the title rarely matters, well except for that one time when there was a picture of a fully nude man on the front cover. When I go to the library I go through sections in alphabetical order and try to find interesting titles. If the titles are interesting. If they are, I look at the back of the book

I believe the cover is very important, at least for getting me to notice the book.
If I see a boring cover, I tend to assume the book isn't going to be as good (which I know isn't going to be always true)

The cover definitely does influence whether or not I want to read it. I love covers that have some kind of background scenery or cool design. I usually skip over books that have just plain solid colors.

To me, the cover is important and like CrescentMoon said, it influences me; but if I hear good things about the book, even if the cover is horrible, I'll probably pick it up anyway. I have read so many good books with awful covers and bad books with gorgeous ones, so sometimes it's hard to judge based on the cover only.

The cover does not matter to me as far as reading goes. I have some amazing books that I have read and picked out simply because of genre. However; I have some metallic covered books that popped out, but still only purchased it because of the genre. So, overall I think it helps when eyeballing a book, but it is never the sole reason I pick one out.

I normally was attracted to the synopsis in the backs or in the jacket, but yes, a good book cover that is eye catching is always something I pause for to look at. I've seen many cool looking books that were boring and some amazing books with very beautiful covers. I am a bit bored of romance novel covers, how they are either a shirtless man (normally buff and white), a couple in gorgeous clothing, or a pretty woman in a dress. Kind of boring. I also sometimes wish there could be a new take on mystery covers that weren't so plain or bleak.

For me the quality of the cover matters. I prefer buying books which has good quality covers even if they are not new. Also, what's on the cover like illustration or whatsoever, this doesn't concern me at all.

I choose book based on my instincts but sometimes the cover does attract me, other times I don't mind the cover as some may be deceiving.

If I am going to pick out a book randomly the only two reasons I stop and go check out a book is because of the cover then the title.

I do agree that the cover of a book does matter. With that being said lately I've been reading on my Kindle so I haven't really paid much attention to the book covers.

I would say the cover art usually grabs my attention first, then I check the title - and if all of that keeps my attention, then the book gets picked up and I read the summary and the first couple sentences. If that all seems good, then it is probably coming home with me!
