I think if you are an ardent reader, you can live a thousand lives in one. It broadens your wouldview, makes you aware of different cultures, people, places, cuisines etc. It can make you sympathetic to different groups of people (even those that you may have previously disagreed with). It'll truly make you appreciate the diversity of the human experience. Apart from all these advantages, I also think reading is one of the best ways to imrpove your grammar and vocabulary.

Reading is my favorite form of escapism. We all need a break from reality at times. I like to escape as often as possible.

I love that reading exposes you to different experiences and teaches you so many new words! There were many times growing up I would use a word, having learned what it meant by seeing it in a book, but pronounced it wrong because I had only ever seen it on a page. I love learning and using new words - reading is my favorite way to add things to my vocabulary!
