Rated 4/4

A very well-written memoir that lures the reader into the "plot" and the "story".
It is a story of redemption that gives hope
I don't usually enjoy memoirs. However, it sounds like the book is very emotional and motivational. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

It was SUCH a sweet, light hearted holiday romance, I recommend it for those who like cozy romances, with a lot of wittiness. I rated it 5 stars on Amazon, which is rare for me.

THE COLD WAR
A WORLD HISTORY
Odd Westad
Basic Books, copyright 2017

Rating 9/10

I would be happy to read more books from this author. It did go over a number of history I already had a deep understanding with. As it is about world history. But there was a very important argument that was made with the author to win the Cold War. Since the start of the Reagan Revolution, movies and television series was designed to show a wealthy and educated characters being a positive and negative modeling. The characters were to be above the national average with wealth and income. Reason being, that only in capitalist societies can that level of wealth and income can happen. Were as in communist countries or countries with a higher level of socialism, the government cannot guarantee that level of wealth, or income.

DEEP STATE
TRUMP, THE FBI, AND THE RULE OF LAW
James Stewart

6/10

His statements are more interesting on television that his statements within his own book. It does prove my point, that current event books are not good books to read. The best book about the Trump Administration will be written in the 2040's -- during a era when a author has time to decompress the important of this current era. Writing about current events, can become a problem with facts the day it is release to the general public.

Monkey Grip, Helen Garner's 1977 novel about life and love in 1970s Melbourne, is gritty, raw and rough-edged, and it established Garner as one of Australia's foremost writers. She has written a wide range of well-respected fiction and non-fiction in the past 40 years or so.

The narrator in this novel, which I suspect is partly auto-biographical, is Nora, a young woman addicted to the need to be loved and comforted.

Unfortunately, the man she is most addicted to is Javo, who is addicted to hard drugs and just can't get his life together.

The prevailing environment seems to be the tail-end of the sixties/seventies hippie 'free love' and casual drug experimentation period in western culture.

While Nora wants Javo to get off the drugs, she is also afraid that a clean Javo might not need her anymore.

This is a great introduction to one of the absolute stars of Australian literature. 4 stars out of 5
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
