I always read while I eat, unless ofcourse I'm having a family dinner or something. I often listen to music while reading, but that doesn't really feel like multitasking as it's in the background. I used to read in class at school, but once again, not really multitasking as the lesson just became background noise... I used to read and walk, until I almost got hit by a car halfway through Ender's Game! Not something I'd recommend (reading and walking, that is, Ender's Game is one of my favourite books and I'd recommend it to anyone!).

I'm sad to say that I really can't multitask while I'm trying to read. I can always focus best curled up in a chair with absolute silence, I can't even stand music while I read. I can focus one hundred percent on the book if it's the only thing that's in front of me.

I used to read while using the exercise bike, or the treadmill. Now my life does not allow for those things. So multitasking while reading is non-existent for me.

While I read, I like to have it quiet and being undisturbed. I find it easy to get lost in a book when it has my full attention. Although, I also can read while commuting or in a coffee shop, essentially when there is "white noise," I can remain focused, but I can't multitask while reading. I have high respect for those who can multitask while reading!

I can eat and read. I will occasionally cook and read although that usually ends up a disaster.Certain exercises I do I read while doing them. But cant do much else while I read I am too submerged in what I am reading.

Depending on what I am reading. I've had trouble with more dense writers such as Faulkner or Wallace and I just feel like I'm missing something important (even if I'm not). But I'm usually on point with breeze reading while having the TV on or even conversations going on around me. I also enjoy the occasional long walk with my nose in a book.

I used to be able to - no longer can for some reason.

My attention span isn't great and appears to be getting worse the older I get :

Sometimes I can read while watching TV, depending on whether or not I'm interested in the programming or not. Most of the time, however, I have to have peace and quiet in order to focus on what I'm reading.

I can read a few books at a time. I find it easy to dive right back in where I left off regardless of the book I pick up to read. I also enjoy listening to soft music while reading. Is it multitasking when you are using more than one sensory?! I'd say so.

I can not multitask when I am reading. I either get to distracted by the other things I'm doing when reading, or get to into the book to concentrate on anything else.

I've tried reading while performing a number of activities - working out, eating, talking to a friend, listening to music - and I find that I'm never able to completely focus on the book while multitasking. I can generally ascertain the basic idea of the text but it takes focused, methodical reading for me to actually understand and appreciate what I'm reading.

Listening to music was my favorite second task all the time. Tracking stock rates and reading is natural though it was distracting the reading initially.

I can't. Usually I will sit in one place if it's an actual book, but, I also have the Kindle app on my iphone so while I'm out and about like say....waiting in line at the bank I'll read in little short bursts throughout the day.

It depends on the type of book. If it's a "easy read", I can walk on the treadmill. Books that make me think, I can't do anything else other read...and eat.

Although, I am known for reading in the bathtub. Does that count?
