I will often place my Kindle on the counter while I am cooking dinner and read if I am really engrossed in the book I am reading and having trouble finding a good stopping point. I have even propped it on top of the washing machine while moving laundry around. So yes, I definitely multitask when reading.

There are some things I can do like talk to people or listen to music but things like cooking or cleaning I definitely can't do no matter what. But I honestly hate multitasking while reading a book because then I get distracted and I wouldn't focus on the book as much as I like to.

I would say no, not really. I like to be able to focus and concentrate. If my husband seems to want to talk and constantly interrupts me, I have to put the book down. I am able to do simple things such as ride my stationary bike and read, but that doesn't happen very often. I would also go one step further and say that I need to single task my books: read only one book at a time. I have to finish the book I am reading BEFORE I start another or I will not finish it. And that part is getting worse as I get a little older.

I sometimes listen to soundtracks while reading, but not very often. If someone's having a conversation near me while I'm reading, I'll start listening to the conversations in stead of reading the book.

The only music I can listen to while reading is instrumental while I am reading, if there are words in the music it is too distracting for me.

I'm great a multi-tasking when reading. I can watch movies or listen to music. Anything than that and it gets a little complicated. I can follow the plot of a movie and also the plot of a book. It definitely helped me out in school.

No, I really can't. I have to give the book my full attention when reading it. Otherwise, I won't really understand what's going on, or even remember what happened.

I usually read books while eating and sometimes I read books while I am listening to music at the same time. But sometimes I just end up ignoring the music and focusing completely on the book, so I just use it so I can concentrate. If I sit in front of the TV while reading I only look at it when it at parts I think are interesting. Or when someone does something really stupid and I just have to stop and comment on it. Otherwise I am completely focused on my book.

Yes. It aso used to be a usual thing to see me at school reading yet doing something else entirely too. (once i was writing down my phone number for a friend while reading a book and another time i held a conversation.)

Usually when I'm reading I like to listen to music. I listen to acoustics or instrumentals. It's always something slow and soft, otherwise it distracts me too much from what I'm reading. I also often walk on the treadmill while I read, or even sometimes go on the elliptical. Sometimes while I'm stretching for dance I read too.

I have a hard time doing anything else while reading. I can't concentrate and then lose my place in the story and I hate that! I don't like anything or anyone intruding on my reading time since it takes away the pleasure of reading. I read magazines or do crossword puzzles at the doctor's office or other places. I take my crossword book with me or read the newspapers in the waiting room. I'll even read those medical brochures that are displayed or watch TV if it's on. I never bring a book I'm currently reading, but I will bring my NOOK and look at the internet.

I can multitask while reading, however, I mostly choose not to. If I'm reading a book, I want my attention to be 100% into that book right then and there. It's as if you were watching a tv show, if you're doing something else, you can easily miss something important.

I can't multitask while reading. I can't even enjoy reading while the TV is playing in the background because I find myself having to read part of it over again because I get distracted.

I`m constantly doing it: riding a bus and reading, cooking and reading, listening to my husband and reading. :hand:
