No, never. It's too distracting for me.

I was one of 6 children. I can tune out conversation, TV, music, whatever. Cross-reference: the discussion "Can Reading Be Rude?"

Sometimes. Depends on where I am. Outside of my home yes, I usually do.

I picked up a talent way back in grade school for reading through every noise and collective din a room full of small children can produce, and I've been able to read anywhere through anything ever since, so if music is already going, it's nothing. I might even enjoy it. But if the room I'm reading in is silent, I'm not going to turn music on.

Normally, I do not listen to music while reading. When I read, I get very engrossed in my book.

I like to be fully present while reading, and I find that listening to music can be a distraction.

I usually need silence for reading. It's really annoying to even hear my mom listening to music with two closed doors in between us! The only music I could possibly habe playing in the background would be soft instrumental music, like a movie soundtrack or sounds from nature...but if I've got a choice: no music for me. Silence! :)

It depends, sometimes if the music fits well with the story I enjoy listening to it, but often it's difficult to concentrate with.

I do. I very much enjoy listening to music while reading and while doing pretty much anything else too. While I can't say it's anything traditional (I love my rock and metal tunes) I find sometimes that even listening to that music afterwards it will sometimes remind of whatever it was that I was reading.

I generally prefer silence. But some noise doesn't bother me if I'm deeply immersed in what I'm reading.

I do my best studying with noise whether its the television or music. I cant focus in silence. It drives me nuts. Im that person at the library bopping off to my beats in my headphones looking like a mad man.

Music without words is okay but I'm good a tuning out noise, it rarely bothers me.
