I was 2. My mom left books in my crib, and I memorized them, then 'read' them to myself after she had left. Once I actually learned to read, I would still read just as much as when I thought I could.

I was about 7 or 8, I suppose. Maybe younger. :) I started off with books like the Amelia Bedelia Collection, and Nate the Great. From there I found Trixie Belden, then Cherry Ames, and then Nancy Drew, and on and on.... :D

I was 7 years old when I discovered my true love for books. I had broken my left femur, and was bed ridden for several weeks during that summer. One of our family friends brought me the gift of an amazing and magical book called "The Jolly Postman, and Other People's Letters"! It was filled with fairy tale characters, and had letters that came out of the book and appeared to be written by different people. It was the most amazing book I had ever read! It completely removed me from that room I was physically confined to, and landed me in a whole different land, one of magic and imagination! I was so enamored with that book, and have loved books ever since!

My mom told me that when I was 3, I taught myself how to read using the Bible.

My love of books seems to be something that I've always had with me. The earliest memory I have is probably from 3rd grade... whatever age that is.

Probably from the time I first started to read by myself without the aid of anyone. I was consumed by the stories and vibrant pictures

I must have been 6 or so. One of the earliest books I remember was a collection of folk tales from India. Each story was interesting or instructive, and the exotic settings took me out of my ordinary life. Completely hooked, ever since.

I cannot think of a time when books were not a part of my life. As a toddler, I was read to every night before bed. My favorite was "The Monster at the End of this Book." As a second-grader, I would sneak a flashlight into my room at night to read the Carolyn Haywood books about Betsy and her sister Star.

I'm not exactly sure when/if I had a grand epiphany moment. My Mom always read and led me to read often as a child. I just never stopped! haha.
