No, I don't want to miss any important calls, but I screen my calls so I know if any are important or not. I don't answer if I don't think they're important, but I'm a mom and I do think it's important to always be available to my kids in case they need me for something or have an accident or something like that.

I never turn any of my phones off because the choice is mine to answer or not.

It's a good question. For me, since I've been looking for another part-time job to make ends meet, I've had to keep my phone at least by and on a decent setting to hear if someone calls for an interview. But until then, I keep my phone up and away, far enough so I won't want to get up for a text message if that's the tone. They can wait! :P LOL.

I never keep my ringer on to begin with lol. I am sound sensitive and the phone ringing puts me through the roof. So no worries there :)

For starters, I do not currently own a phone. When I am someplace that has a phone I will generally let the answering machine get it and listen with "one ear" in case it is important enough to warrant leaving a book or what I am doing. Basic reasons I might leave a good read are accidents, dismemberment, death, and an occasional bee sting or cut on a young person or the 87 year old I live with.

Generally no, but I usually don't hear it if I'm engrossed or I say I'll respond to a text once I'm to a certain point and 45 minutes later I still haven't picked up my phone.

I don't usually turn my phone off but I leave it on vibrate. I will check it every hour or so to see if I miss anything usually when I take a break. If I am really into a book I might go longer without checking it. Do you ignore people or pretend to answer them when you are reading? I usually give the generic "Uh huh" even when I am not listening and am reading.

No, but on the other hand I rarely answer my phone. If I'm reading a good book, I totally concentrate on the story and resent interruptions.
