I like reading because it is a way for me to learn from and be mentored by individuals whose path I may never get to cross. Reading also allows me to relax. I can escape a stressful day or week by diving into a really good book.

Most authors write about what they know and a lot of their life experience shines through there stories.
That makes me feel like i´m widening my lifeexperience. Especially since you dont get that much lifeexperience while you´re lying in bed in the evening or driving a train on the weekend.
Reading gives me the sense of "getting more out of life" when the alternative is being bored or looking at cat pictures on the internet.I feel like i have lived hundreds of lifes already and come up with great advice for friends in situations i have never encountered myself.

I love reading because it lets you escape from reality for a little while. It is always sad when a good book ends!

I think I like reading because it allows me to hear from people who have something important to say. You can read from the best thinkers no matter where they are or even when. I'm amazed by the fact that I can go to the book store and buy hours of reading material written by someone who lived hundreds or even thousands of years ago.

What about you?
Reading is one of the art of living in world...by this we can gain & share our knowledge. Without knowing things we can't do any things at least one step of successive path...

I have always been fascinated with books since I was very young.

Books can transport you to a new world of your own imagination or creation. I can be in my bedroom with a cup of tea, but the words on a page can take me too a whole new country or universe. Books are like traveling without the cost or weird people cramped beside you.

Another reason I love books is that I can see the world through another persons eyes. Its literally putting yourself in someone else's shoes by just reading their words, opinions, and ideas.

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.” ― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

To either calm my mind or feed my mind.

If I cant stop over thinking a problem or I am stressed, I read....

If I feel I cant take the boring environment of my life anymore, I read...

Other than that... I like to read because I'm nosey....

I like to read because you can find a great deal of meaning in books. You can read a book an infinite amount of times without uncovering all its secrets, and all of the messages to be learned, but the futility of this does not stop me from reading, because whatever I get from a book will make it worth my while. As a reader, you try to decide what the author is trying to say and perhaps what we come up with wont even scratch the surface, or maybe you read more into it than what is truelly there, but we're looking, which is the important thing.

Books are voices from the past, voices of authors who tell us something they know, in a way that we will hopefully understand. By doing so, they expose themselves in such a personal way that surpasses any connection you might have with that person in real life.
