I started reading at a very young age. My father was abusive and did not allow me the normal pass times of other children my age. I was not allowed to run around and play and be loud and to laugh. I was supposed to sit quietly and mind my own business. Well, sitting quietly and minding my own business turned into reading because in my mind it was like being with the characters and escaping into their world for a while. I probably had more imaginary characters growing up than anyone had a right to have because I read so very much. I learned to love books as an escape and then continued to love them once free from my initial restraints. Now I read just for the sheer enjoyment of leaving behind the stress of a college student's life and being able to walk around in another place for a while.
Best Regards,

Nice story David, it's great that books allowed you to escape an abusive father.David Weekley wrote:Hello Members,
