Strange Stories by Pu-Sung-Ling. Its a collection of Chinese stories about weird goings-on. One was about a guy who married a woman only to find out she was a fox, not the sexy hot chick kind, but the kind with fur and a tail. Interesting stories, they were written in the 12th century. Good for something light.

Huey, I knew a guy who married a woman only to find out that she was a shrew, not the small furry kind, but the kind that winds up taking your house away from you in court.

ANYWAY, I have just finished reading Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins. This book is the second in The Hunger Games trilogy. It was not as good as the first but still a decent read. I have just been informed that the final book of the series, Mockingjay, is waiting for pick up at the library.

Much of the logic Collins employs with regard to the construction of the story compels me to consider picking her up by the ankles and dunking her in a vat of marmalade just for the sheer hell of it. Much of it reeks. But she has the uncanny knack of being able to write in such a compelling way that I can't put the book down in spite of some of the idiotic, internal conceits and premisses. I am eager to read the next book just so I can put the whole thing behind me for once and for all.

This whole Hunger Games "thing" is an enormously entertaining experience provided you don't think about what you've read too much. This is just a 'for instance' - one in a litany of "Oh CUMMON"s : OK, you have a healthy 17 year old girl and a 17 year old boy who kiss their brains out but never have sex. Well, I understand Collins is a practicing Roman Catholic so whatdaya want? Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss but never rip each other's clothes off ... GET REAL, SUZANNE !!!!

I'd give CF a 3 1/2 of 5 * ONLY because the story is linked to the previous book ... alone I'd give it a 2 1/2.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist. 4/5 stars. I enjoyed the book but didn't care for the ending.

Great book but I agree the ending is somewhat ambiguous - I still find myself wondering about it & it's ages since I read it.

Really enjoying these series of books, unexpected twists and surprising events, one of the best reads so far.

I love the Hunger Games series. The 3rd book was a bit disappointing though but overall, a great series.

Just finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
I've been putting off reading this book because I was never really a fan of the circus, even as a child, & quite honestly I did not really expect it to be my type of book but my was I pleasantly surprised. It's a great read & I found it totally absorbing - so much so that I lost a few hours sleep because of it. There really is an awful lot more to it that you might initially think - it is a lot more that a conventional circus. I thought the ending of the book was a bit of a let down though and for that reason I will give it a ........ 3.5/5*

gali and Fran,

The Night Circus

OK, you've convinced me. Just put a library "hold" on it online. I'm first in line for it so it should be available for pick up in a day or two.

Just finished a non-fiction, King of the World, by David Remnick. (At least I think it was Remnick.) It was about the events which and the men who set the stage for Mohammed Ali's rise to fame. I'm not into boxing at alI but I actually found it rather fascinating. 4/5

DATo, you probably will like it as you and Fran have verry similar tastes in books. I had a real hard time with this book as I too, hate the circus, clowns, etc. I wasn't able to get over that or into the book. I put it down after about 80 pages. But, I'm definitely the minority as most people rave about this one.
