I actually love reading because it relaxes me and stimulates my mind. I love the way words written in a specific way can bring to life what is going on and how the imagination can almost make you see the story and the feelings that overwhelms you.

I read a lot because I have Parkinsons and it keeps my brain sharp. It is also fun - I have always loved reading.

I started reading mostly as a hobby but I realized later on that it gave me a sense of satisfaction and a kind of fulfillment I can not attach to anything else.

Reading has always been my escape from stress. The more unrealistic the story, the better I can get out of my head and immerse myself into that world.

Because it helps me escape reality. I love seeing things from different perspectives, and each character is a different, entire world for me. I love being transported to someone else’s head, I find it fascinating.

Reading relaxes me. It eases my whirlwind of a mind. Also, it makes the day go by quicker if work is slow.

I like to read because it takes me to new places and teaches me new things. It is very enjoyable to experience a story and know what people are thinking or feeling. A lot of times, it is much better than watching a movie. You are part of the story when you read.

I enjoy reading because it is a good way to learn many things. As a teacher I know that reading and teaching go hand in hand. That is why reading for me is not only because you like but because you need to know it.

I love to read because books allow me to entire a new world. As I read, with the good books, I can see the story playing out before my eyes as if I am watching a movie. For me it is the world's best way to escape from real life. I can immerse myself into the story and just enjoy.

Reading makes me feel alive . I have GAD and depression and honestly , the only reason I was able to tackle all those suicidal thoughts that haunted me was because I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to the world of books . Books taught me empathy and gratitude . Above all , they taught me to be me , taught me to be myself , made me realize that I wasn't that bad of a person I thought I was . :D :D

I love to read....as we all do. I have been reading for many many moons. I much prefer reading instead of watching T.V. I watch the scenes in my mind as the book progresses page by page. This is so much better than T.V.
Anyone who has time to clean is not reading nearly enough

Totally agree! I have hopped on the memoir train in the last few months to start getting more perspectives on things. I have completely changed how I think about things after reading so many things written from niche points of view.

I had a tough childhood. I won't bore you with the details. However at a young age I discovered reading books was a way to block out all the unpleasantness around me. From there my spark of interest in reading exploded into a roaring flame as i eagerly devoured as many captivating stories and endlessly beautifully created worlds as I could.
