Why do I like reading? I can be anyone, anything, anywhere, anytime. As a child this was the draw. Now it is a necessity for me to survive every day.

Reading takes me away for the time being. It lets me unwind, destress, and just not think about MY life for that brief time. I enjoy learning about the lives of the characters. It's better than watching a television show for me, because you can feel what they feel, and really get to know them inside and out, and get in their head. It offers the reader multiple different points of view. Gives you perspective.

Reading is kinda my escape. It allows me to kinda take a trip into the characters world and have a break from mine :) also I find it extremely relaxing and educational. I also love seeing what other peoples imaginations come up with and how they play it out in words

I read to see the world in a bigger picture.

I read to have a broader perspective of the things in life.

I read to see life in a beautiful way.

I read to get outside of my box.

I read to enter a world created inside someone's head.

I read to experience being in the shoes of the character.

I read to escape the harsh realities of life.

I read to widen and broaden my ideas and imagination.

I read to live, to love and to survive.

I enjoy consuming media in general. The main advantages to reading for me are that (a) I can do it anywhere, (b) if I didn't fully grasp a passage, I can easily rescan it and (c) the imagery isn't forced, it's all imagined and controlled by myself with the parameters set by the book (versus, say, watching a TV show where a character has one very specific unbend-able look).

I love reading because it allows me to escape my reality for a while. When I am engrossed in a book hours can go by and I don't even notice.

my reasons for reading are
1. It relaxing I get to lay back and go to another world. I get to use my imagination to see the world the characters are in.

2. Because I get to learn new words and then meanings. I love that part! I get to learn new words and grow my mind.

Ever since I can remember, my dad was always reading a book. He would be curled up, in a big overstuffed chair, next to our bookcase, reading one of his paperback westerns. So, I guess it was just natural for me to do the same. Never could get into a western story though, but I remember reading every Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys book I could get my hands on. Louisa May Olcott's, Little Women was another favorite and I will forever be thankful for Jo. She showed me that I could think for myself and still be OK...

I enjoy imagining the scenes around me, and becoming the character. I like that I can feel the raw emotion by putting myself in the characters shoes

I really enjoy reading because it really is an escape from the whole human world. I like the feeling of solitary while i'm reading, when I'm alone in a world with just my mind and the characters in the book.

I like to read because it makes me think about what may happen later in the book. Even when I'm not reading I can think about what may happen later in the story.

I love to read books that really make you think about things. Even some fiction stories can make you think about how people live, have lived or might have lived. Often it takes you away from our mundane lives and let's us walk a different path if only for a few hours.

Well, for starters, "like" is a pretty mild word for how I feel about reading. I love it. I love it so much that not only do I read a lot but I also encourage everyone I know and love to read as much as they can. I remember when I was little how having a love to read was ridiculed. You were teased because you actually wanted to read, to learn something, to get lost in a new world, discover a character that is just as passionate as you...how can you be ridiculed for that?

As I got older I realized that if reading was a deal breaker then I was better off being broken. I wanted to read! I needed to read! I needed to know what made Harry Potter so special, I needed to join Tom Sawyer on his adventures, I needed to understand the Kamikaze Girls and why they love (or hate) being Lolitas, and I needed to be there, through the rough times, when time, space and doubts wreak havoc on a man's soul in The Sparrow.

So, I guess to put it simply: I love reading because it offers everyone the chance to not only explore another world but also, explore more of themselves...and poo poo to those who don't get it!
