Actually when I was younger I HATED reading, absolutely hated it, but then I met this one girl in my Middle School who started showing me these really cool books, and then I asked my teacher to help teach me to read and he obliged and without my best friend showing me the wonders of books and my teacher not teaching me how to read, I probably will still hate books as of today, so thanks a bunch to those people who touched my life forever.

For me, reading is the ultimate escape. It's so easy to be somewhere else and see things through someone else's eyes for a little while to forget about stress and bills and work. I love movies as an escape as well, but books are so much better. Your imagination is 100 times better than the CG they use in movies.

I love reading because it enlightens me. Reading relaxes me and takes me away from it all for a little while.

I love reading because it takes me to places and experiences I could never enjoy at home. I can visit the Great Wall of China, the Yellowbrick Road of OZ and Middle Earth. Reading allows me to live in all eras of history and cultures. I read for fun, knowledge, and escape. I cannot live without my books! Reading is the life for me.

Reading for me is an escape. It lets you tune out the rest of the world and leave reality. Reading is a way to get away from all your problems in your life and be someone else for 20 minutes or so. :D

I love reading because it allows you to escape to another world and leave your worries behind. I love reading about characters who are well written.

I definitely read to escape. Not that my life is bad it's just that dorm times it gets boring and I need something interesting, sometimes it's too expensive to travel or impossible to go
Back in time. Quite honestly I read to explore the world.

I love reading for several reasons but two of my main ones are: One, it is an escape for me when I want to get away from the real world. Second, I enjoy reading to learn, I would much rather read how to do something than have someone explain it to me.

I read to escape. I do the same with music. Sometimes, especially as a mom, I just need to escape from reality after my kids go to sleep of course.

I also read to learn something new and gain new prospectives.

I actually just like stories. Reading, as a kid, was the easiest way to get them. Then after that it kind of just became a habit. Now i just find my imagination more satisfying than a screen.

I read classic and contemporary literature to escape from the chaos of everyday life and to experience different worlds that I would never see otherwise. The great thing about books is the insight you can gain into how people live and why people make choices just by reading. I also enjoy reading biographies and historical books. I amazes me to learn about the great men and women who shaped our world and I wonder what they would think about it today.

I agree. It can captivate you more than any movie. You have more time to reflect and soak it all in. And with your imagination running the show, you naturally feel those emotions with the character(s).

Do you even need a reason. A book lets me loose myself in it. Living exciting lives which otherwise i would never get to experience. allow my imagination to sore and be lost in the moment. I find it a rush that i can never stay away from.

I love the fact that you are in an entire different world while you are reading. Its like an outer body experience. I feel so bad for people that just watch movies, its just not the same!
