All the time! And I'm usually disappointed by the actors who score the roles. They're usually not what/who I envisioned.

I know exactly what you mean. I did read Fifty Shades and, while he's way older than the character, I envisioned Christian Bale (and not because of his name, because I think he could BE that part...and he's sexy lol) as Christian Grey. When I saw who they cast for the movie, I was disappointed because he looks nothing like I pictured that character. I also still can't believe they are trying to make a movie out of that. Ugh.

Yeah, I felt some of the casting for The Hunger Games was off. Some of the characters were right on, but definitely not all of them.

This topic reminded me of Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. There's a part in the book comparing the crazy colonel to a certain actor. I had thought it would have been funny if they had actually gotten that actor for the movie. Maybe King was actually dropping a hint that that's who he wanted in his next movie, I don't know. Admittedly, Morgan Freeman did a much better job than I had expected from him.

Not unless I've already seen a movie version of the book and know who's been cast in what role.

I don't really picture actors playing the characters in any of the books I read. But, if the author provides a very detailed description of a character, then I would just develop the look of the character in my mind, which I think are way better than actors (no offense). I just personally don't see any actor portraying a character in my books, I just think it would be weird.

Not usually with books but with audio books I identify the voice reader with the character. I'm listening to a book in the Cliff Hardy detective series written by Australian author Peter Corris and a well-known actor, Peter Hosking, is reading Cliff Hardy in a gruff likeable macho voice and it makes me want to meet him!

Most of the time, I only picture actors in my mind are when I've seen the movie for that book. However, there are various times when a description of a character rings a bell, and a flash pops into my head of a recently seen actor.

Yes I do, but only if I've seen the movie before reading the book. It's hard not to picture them because the actors are usually cast accurately and then I start to picture them as I've seen them in a book. Such as The Hunger Games. I picture Katniss as Jennifer Lawrence, because she represents Katniss to me since I've seen the movies.

I rarely picture actors while I read, but sometimes when I read a book in which I have already seen the movie then I will.

A lot of times, yes! Especially if I have seen the movie first, or even the cast list.
