I like both and my preference depends on the kind of the book I am reading. For e.g. for fiction almost always I like paperback because it's easy to carry and read even when lying down. But for books that are huge and heavy, and are needed for a learning purpose, I prefer them to be hardcover.

I love the look and feel of hardback books, but I usually by paperback instead. Mostly due to the fact that I'm a cover bender... I know the horror of it all.

I really don't like hardcover books, they're heavy and expensive and I personally find them cumbersome to hold and read. Paperback is my absolute go to, lighter and just overall more pleasant, I'm specially a fan of pocket sized books.

Paperback for travel-sized books and cheap books secondhand. If I really love a book, I'll buy the hardcover so it holds up longer.

Strong paperback supporter. Hardbooks just don't feel like home to me.

I have both, but I definitely prefer hardbacks over paperbacks. It feels like paperbacks ruin more easily and it's frustrating to be aware of it every time you read. Even though hardbacks are ridiculously expensive, I still prefer them if it's a book I want to keep.

From a cost point of view, paperbacks are far cheaper to produce. I run Print Business in Australia - and the Hard Cover copies are $10-$20 more per book on short runs

Hardcovers typically look better and fancier, but paperbacks are more practical for carrying around in my bag. So I don’t have a super strong opinion on one or the other.

I prefer a paperback as it’s easier on the hands. However if it happens to be from a group of books I’m collecting, I like hardcover for the durability.

I would choose paperback over hardcover every time. I like how paperback feels on the hand. It is easy to flip pages. It's not as heavy as hardcover.

Honestly, it depends on the type of book. If I want a more serious book; hard-cover. If I am opting for a more light hearted, fun book; paperback. The reasoning behind this preference? I am not sure. I typically read non-fiction so I tend to lean towards hard-cover books. Hard cover is the winner in my eyes!
