1) It keeps my mind engaged

2) I can use my imagination instead of relying on already-laid-out visual representation

3) Increases my vocabulary

In addition to that last point (made a few years ago), I like reading books translated into English from other cultures, because the illustrations and story sequences differ. Some use space in unique ways - some have very short, bare sentences.

It allows me to mentally escape the mundane/chaos of everyday life into a new world, which I find relaxing.

Mainly to escape from the reality of this world. Same thing as movies or music. You can travel with your mind to situations and realities that will or could ever be. Also the power of a story and all the emotion inducing forms of storytelling are very popular for a reason. That reason i think is that we as species are a very emotion dependent species.

I love reading because it feels like breathing in a different body. I'm able to experience and feel emotions from various worlds. It is also a form of escape, and transport to a different place. :techie-reference:

The way reading fires up the imagination is delicious. I love to read because I love to write, and the two go together like bread and butter. Escapism is also an element here, but slightly differently; it's nice to see ordinary people in extraordinary situations just doing their best, especially in fantasy, because it instills confidence in my own choices and abilities.

I like reading because it lets me escape into other worlds, live through different characters, and understand perspectives I might never experience in real life. It’s calming, inspiring, and sometimes even healing. Whether it’s fantasy, mystery, or a heartfelt drama, every book feels like a quiet adventure just waiting to unfold.

I love reading because I learn a lot from it. Also because I'm always amazed by how the human mind can make up such masterpieces.

Indeed, one cannot leave out the fact that books are just one of the best treasure troves of information, and unlikely many other media, you are fully engaged in "digging" for the information and satisfying your curiosity. One more reason to like and enjoy reading books.

For Knowledge I guess, and also to have different points of views when addressing a particular situation. Reading would also help me learn many things I wouldn't have known naturally. I also love watching movies too.
