I love reading because it allows me to live in someone elses life besides my own. Reading is also a good way to pass time. When im lost in a book I do not even have concept of time. The time flys by fast.

I like reading because it takes me away from reality for a while and I feel better after I read a book.

I love reading because i love seeing the creative process authors go through. I get engulfed in words and ask questions that only reading books can answer. I truly wish I had just an ounce of talent many authors seem to have developed. The emotion that books pull from people is something extraordinary. I've personally read a book that changed my life. It made me feel confident in myself and it wasn't anywhere near being considered a self help type book. Its crazy how many movies have come from books and i have yet to come across a movie that is better to its equivalent book title. How can that be? How can a book in words beat pictures on a screen? Amazing talent by amazing authors.

Reading is my life. I read during the good times and the bad, I read to celebrate and to escape. Reading is where I feel at home the most. No matter where I am at, no matter how uncomfortable or awkward or just plain scared and nervous, I know that I can turn to my biggest comfort: books. They are there for you to escape from the stresses of the day, they are there to make you feel warm and cozy on a cold winter's night, to help alleviate boredom at the DMV. The characters are your bestest friends who will always want to take you on another grand adventure. That is why I love books.

Why do I love reading....

It's hard to choose just one reason. I love being immersed in a different time and a different place. It is true what they say that a reader lives a thousand lives. I love that about reading. Sometimes I just need an escape from the mundane world we live in, and books provide me just the opportunity to do this. Anything is possible in the books we read (people may fly, mythical and magical creatures do indeed exist, and time travel is possible).

In short, books are magical and can transport you to other worlds you've only dreamed of.

I like reading for the purpose of learning, educating myself, broadening my knowledge about any subject I want
to learn about, both online or by books. The other reason is for pleasure.

I read to escape, to be entertained,to live a life I can only dream about, but I mostly read because it connects with a variety of emotions.

I read for so many reasons:

Reading is one of my manys ource of happiness, it makes me happy. That feeling of genuine happiness and gratitude toward something. Its like a pill and a cure to any sadness that im feeling

I read to explore my imagination, to what my mind is capable of and create my own world base on the book that im reading
I read also to escape the stresses that im experincing and to forget anything that makes me feel discouraged

And lastly i ready because it gives me hope and makes me realize that im blessed of the life that i have and to appreciate all the things in life may it be good or bad

To chose one reason is impossible. It's an escape into another world.

It seems many people read to escape, which same goes for me. When I read, it's just like watching a movie in my head... I imagine the scene... what the people look like. It gives me a kind of control to imagine what I want, and how they sound. Reading is amazing, it's too bad more younger people don't read as much.

Like most of the other posters, I read to escape reality for a few hours. It is better than tv because, while the story is already written, I get to imagine things how I would want them to be: like what the characters look like, house and location descriptions, etc.

I love reading because it often takes me away from real life for a little while and takes the stress out. I love reading historical romance novels as I can then learn a lot about history and can imagine that I am going through this particular story along with the characters.

It is an escape for me. I'm badly disabled, and unable to travel, so it allows me to transcend those limitations and be able to 'see the world.'
