I'm reading George Orwell's 1984...and I think I'll be putting it down soon. It bores me.

It was difficult for me to read on the beginning too, but you have to read this book. The end is really scary and make you realize what the real freedom is and how people can be easily manipulated

Spandau:The Secret Diaries, Albert Speer.

Agree with Anastasia, 1984 gets better as you get into and it's one of those books that's a must read.

I just got done reading Gena ShoWalter's book The Nymph King. My boyfriend's mom is into all her books, and now I'm checking into more. I bought more of her books today. I think I am really, really going to have a lot of fun with these ones.

I don't think any book is a "must" read. If you are not enjoying 1984, put it down. I didn't enjoy it when I was a teenager. I waited about 20 years, and tried it again. My second time through was a different experience. I understood 1984 on a deeper level, probably because I had matured greatly over the years. You may or may not have the same experience I did.
In any case, you don't have to read it, and sometimes being forced to read or thinking you should read a book makes the experience less enjoyable.

Actually since you put it that way I'd have to agree. I was supposed to read Giants In The Earth in high school and that book was horribly dull. I didn't finish it.

I'm reading The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I've read this book before but I wanted to read it again to see what I thought the second time around.

I haven't read alot of books like this one (romance-oriented fiction). Being an English major, I'm into literature and am fairly critical of the books I read. I wouldn't characterize any other book I've read as 'beautiful' but I think this one might merit that title.

I'm interested to see what anyone else who has read this book thinks. I know that the book has been criticized for being melodramatic and amateur but I didn't think so. Any comments would be appreciated!

I'm trying to finish the disappointing Sara Palin book Going Rogue but it's difficult. She's kinda winey and it sure shows in her book, which sounds like a Fox News (?) rant. Who was her ghost writer? Ann Coulter?

I you want intelligent and real revelations you won't get them here; but if you are a Fox News (?) fan you'll love it. You betcha'

I read multiple books at the same time.

Notes from the Underground - Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It's for a bookclub with friends.
The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck. It's for next year's Academic Decathlon competition.
Hamlet - William Shakespeare. Everyone brags how great it is.

I just finished "Swan Song" and it was pretty freaking good. Not sure what I'll read next... considering The Road because I already have it in digital format but I also have 8 other physical books I've been trying to get to. I can't believe just six months ago I couldn't think of new books to read.

Anyway don't give up on 1984 Kaipea. It's referenced so much for a reason. The start is pretty dry, but it will get better. It's worth finishing just so you understand the context when people mention it. I had to wrestle through a couple parts of "Atlas Shrugged", but I am absolutely glad I finished it now.
