I am one of 'today's teens' and I feel like it is very hard to find people in my peer group that enjoy reading. However, since coming to college I am finding a lot more people that enjoy reading, a very pleasant surprise.

I'm 19, and I read a lot, but I fear I'm one of the few. Don't get me wrong, I spend a lot of time on the internet, but I also truly read. Most people I see are on their phones before class playing games, even during class.

I am a proud parent of a 17 year old and she used to love to read books. She read the whole entire Harry Potter series we just had to get it for her or she was going to have a fit! Now she has required reading and the books that are required in AP classes now aren't interesting to them so now she's all into the audio books. So yes she's still reading but only if it's required and then it's audio books.

It really depends on the person, but I would say teens nowadays read less due to the enhancement in technology.

I have always loved reading but when I got to the middle of high school I just didn't read much for a couple of years. But I wouldn't solely blame technology for that, but since I turned 18 I found my love for reading again! If anything technology has helped that. I read a lot more because I have a lot of Ebooks on my phone that are convenient when I don't have an actual book!

I would say less, but I am not sure. I know a lot of teens still love to read.

I think they read less, maybe because of the advanced technology available these days. They have video games, movies, chats and internet available all the time. They spend time with them instead of trying to read books. In our days reading was one of the major pastimes we had.

They read less...unless you consider reading text messages and facebook! I think the ebooks may help getting teens to read more since it's they are so wrapped up in technology. It seems like teens don't find pleasure in reading because it's too slow. This generation is on full blown sensory overload!! Of course this doesn't apply to every teen, but the generation as a whole.

I think that they are reading more than teens use to.

It depends on the teen. Some love to read and do it all the time. Others, myself included, like to play video games. I know people that don't have a tv. That must mean that they read a LOT.

To me that's a no-brainer: today's teens spend their time on social media sites, on their iPODs or phones, or watching TV. Most teens I know grumble and groan at the aspect of reading books. However, there are some teens that enjoy reading more than computer and video games.

I think that I can answer this question as I am a teen. I started out in a traditional public school where learning wasn't a top priority of the majority of the kids. I had a couple of friends that shared my same opinion on reading, and we were avid readers. After transferring to an AP middle school, I found I was among all of the people that cared about reading, or were forced into it. So, I think that reading is decreasing among the majority of teens, but there are still the people like me :) .

So many young adult books are being made into movies at the moment and I notice that I see a lot of teens reading the books so I do indeed see an increase in teens reading.

I’m a teen, but I still read a lot, like I have read 2000+ books in my life, and my friends and I are all book nerds and all love to read. 85% of my class also loves to read and also, even if they don’t read full novels and such, they still read magazines and articles, don’t know if that counts though. So, we still read… I don’t know if it’s more or less than when my parents were kids, but we still do read.
My weekend is all booked!
