Hi KoffieKoffie Solomon wrote: ↑01 Feb 2025, 01:32 I only quit on books when I find out that what was in the blurb is not the same in the plot. And when the books turn out to be boring, my whole energy goes down and i am inclined to put the book down
Yes, that irritates me too. It's like false advertising. Boring books are a challenge too, at first they may start off good, but then they drag, like some Netflix series do by the 3rd episode

I'm like you, if I've spent the time choosing the book, I want to see it through, but sometimes, it's just so poorly written, or dull that I can't.Chockanathan G wrote: ↑03 Jan 2024, 03:47 I won't quit the book easily. I am selecting the book carefully after seeing the content of book. If I am not interested while reading, I will quit it.

Wow 70% is a lot especially if it's dull. I've skimmed to the end on books that I've read for pleasure, but that's impossible when you're reviewing one.London Baum wrote: ↑27 Jan 2025, 18:57 I will quit a book up until 70% and even then sometimes I really just skim from then on and don’t fully read it.

Hi Patience, yeah I get that. When it comes to my dedicated 'reading time,' if I'm not excited about picking the book up where I left off I know it's time to ditch it.Patience Reign wrote: ↑20 Mar 2025, 04:38 I stop reading when i find it is just boring and the pace is very very slow I find myself days are going and the I'm still stuck. I just quit and move to another one

I've done that with TV series, like I've watched 11 seasons, so I'll push through the final season even as it's unbearable to watch. For books I feel like I have more control over myself and less commitment to finishing it. If the book is really dull, or full of errors, then I feel like the writer hasn't tried hard enough to make this book worthy of reading, so I don't feel obligated.Danielle Leonardi wrote: ↑20 Mar 2025, 09:46 My toxic trait is that I’ll finish a book even if I hate it! I’m working on drawing boundaries with that, but it’s hard with my OCD. I just want to finish to know I finished it and be done with it. I’m interested to read other people’s comments so I can come up with a system that will allow me to put the book down!
