I only quit on books when I find out that what was in the blurb is not the same in the plot. And when the books turn out to be boring, my whole energy goes down and i am inclined to put the book down

My toxic trait is that I’ll finish a book even if I hate it! I’m working on drawing boundaries with that, but it’s hard with my OCD. I just want to finish to know I finished it and be done with it. I’m interested to read other people’s comments so I can come up with a system that will allow me to put the book down!

The stories have varied themes but usually start inconspicuously and then take a darker turn unexpectedly. We witness courage, determination, and dedication as well as pride, greed, and heartbreak as the characters face the consequences of their actions and choices. More than often, people become either their best or their worst versions while facing dire situations. 'Puppies' was my favorite among the stories, while 'It’ll Grow Back' really surprised me. 'Bad traffic' has a paranormal hint and differs from the other stories in this book. There are some profanities, and I noticed several punctuation errors, but they did not hamper my reading experience.

Hi Koffie
Yes, that irritates me too. It's like false advertising. Boring books are a challenge too, at first they may start off good, but then they drag, like some Netflix series do by the 3rd episode :D

I'm like you, if I've spent the time choosing the book, I want to see it through, but sometimes, it's just so poorly written, or dull that I can't.

Wow 70% is a lot especially if it's dull. I've skimmed to the end on books that I've read for pleasure, but that's impossible when you're reviewing one.

Hi Patience, yeah I get that. When it comes to my dedicated 'reading time,' if I'm not excited about picking the book up where I left off I know it's time to ditch it.

I've done that with TV series, like I've watched 11 seasons, so I'll push through the final season even as it's unbearable to watch. For books I feel like I have more control over myself and less commitment to finishing it. If the book is really dull, or full of errors, then I feel like the writer hasn't tried hard enough to make this book worthy of reading, so I don't feel obligated.
