I grew up reading. My parents used to read to me. Then I started with easy books with tons of pictures. I am passing this bedtime routine to my son.

No, I'm not so lucky to be like that. Even my parents ask why I enjoy reading and question its benefits for the future. Lucky you.

:hand: I grew up reading alright. My first love with a book was when I was ten years old . It was Matilda by Road Dahl. And I'm sure this is exactly 20 years ago this year.

Growing up in a family of readers sounds like it provided a wonderful foundation for your love of books. I got introduced to reading by my teacher of English and I have not looked back since. She made me love the English language and literature. The library has, and will always feel like home.

Yes I did. My dad actually beat reading into me. And I've now realized how lucky I am to have him. I can't thank him enough.

I grew up reading. The house I grew up in had boxes and grips (old suitcases) of books, some of which were those old, red hardcovered books with gold gilded edges and gold pages. I think those books were so physically attractive that they drew my attention and piqued my interest as to their contents. I was very young though, perhaps 5 or 6 years old, and could not understand exactly what I was reading but I was certainly curious about the pictures of strange-looking people and places in those books. My eldest sister was a huge reader of Mills and Boon romance books and would exchange novels with one of her friends, our neighbor. My mother had us reading in the mornings for devotions. Often, after dinner in the evenings, we would gather as a family and one of us would read a book that was reputed to be exciting. Following that, we would have a family discussion about it. So many things in my childhood influenced my love for reading and books.

I grew up reading. I love to read. My parents were not really readers, unless you consider the daily newspaper and cookbooks they read. My younger sister and two older sisters like to read as well. However, my next oldest sister does not. I remember in 5th grade I was reading Danielle Steel books. As you can tell, my mom must not have known who she was, or it is doubtful I would have been reading her books. But the town librarian let me check them books out.
