Laughs...Thanks, just looked it up. I will be using it and watch the look on the faces of friends and family. Even strangers.

I love reading and believe my vocabulary has improved as a side benefit. My Kindle is extremely helpful in that department too, being able to press on a word you don't know and have a definition come right up has been so helpful. It's nice not to have to keep a dictionary beside a book you are reading for enjoyment.

Expanding my vocabulary is a high priority for me. I own hard copies of Webster's Dictionary and Bartlett's Thesaurus, and I have the Webster's app for my iPhone. Whenever I don't know a word, I go to the dictionary (or my phone) and look it up. I picked up this habit from my late grandfather, whose first language was French. He became very proficient in English through checking out books from the library and writing down every new word he encountered so he could look them up.

The word of the day is funny to me, it's nabob which means a person of great wealth or importance.I will use it and you should too and watch rich people's faces when you are telling that they are a nabob.

It is really important to extend your vocabulary especially when you need to get a message across.

Although there are times which sadden me that when I talk to other people who don't have much in their vocabulary, I am forced to simplify my speech. Especially with people who do not use English as their primary language, you have to be patient with them and talk to them sincerely when they don't understand your words.

Still it is better to always improve oneself to be able to go further in life.

It is very important! I used to be a bit lazy when I had to looks unfamiliar words up when I was reading. Now it is just so easy to do with my kindle. The vocab builder is absolutely one of my favorite things about ebooks.

Vocabulary building is even more important to me now that I am considering taking the GRE soon...

Since I like to write a lot, I enjoy expanding my vocabulary. I mostly do it by reading books. I rarely ever look up a word unless I can't use the words around it to figure out what it means.

I think that reading helps me. Any time I do not understand a word I look it up on my phone so when I see that word again then I will know what it means and will know it from then on.

It's very important and that's one of the reasons why I love reading. I try to locate a dictionary when I find a new word.

I make numerous presentations each week. To effectively communicate with a wider audience (or just make sense), I've found it important to improve my vocabulary. I do so by interaction and reading...alot!

My vocabulary is very important as it reminds me of growing up days.

While in elementary, junior high and high school, I was taught fluent English.

Then, in college/university, people talked slang. I could not understand them all the while. My fluent English started to suffer.

Now, I catch myself and attempt to speak the way I should.

It is incredibly important to me as I have a learning disability that I try to hide. Personally I feel like if I wouldn't have started reading at an early age I wouldn't be where I am at today. Mine is very mild but still it's rather embarrassing so I try really hard to listen to other people use words I am not familiar with in a sentence than later when I am using a phrase similar it helps me remember what word to use to make me look smarter than I am. Plus, it helps in books too. That's where having the dictionary in a kindle helps.

Very important for me, cuz I love learning languages in general. My vocab study goes for both my mother tongue and English. One of my rules for learning words: making sure to learn proper contexts that go along with certain words (not just new words---even though I've learned some words, if my knowledge is limited to simple dictionary definitions, I don't feel I "know" the words). Plus, I hope to work as a freelance translator one day, so...
