Author Obert Skye was giving a small presentation at my son's elementary school yesterday in conjunction with National Reading Week. My wife and I stopped by to watch, and the kids were extremely excited to meet him in person. Many of the kids brought bags full of his books for him to autograph. When my junior high aged daughter heard about this, she got very jealous and asked some amusing questions, "What did he look like?" "What does he sound like?".

So, yes, I think there is still plenty of reading going on.
I agree with you. Really, teens have other means of entertainment these days, but we can see that lots of them still read. You find young youtubers who dedicate their channels to talk about books which is something different from the other youtubers who only talk about makeup and games.

Teenagers nowadays read less. This is because of all the technology and social media that they prefer to indulge in. Growing up, there was less of all that and I had more time to read books.

Teenagers don't read as much as we used to back in the days. Now they are more focused on social media and games. You hardly find teenagers reading novels out if fun not unless it is their school books

This is an interesting question. Generally, I'm pretty sure that teenagers nowadays read less because of the abundance of technology and other types of entertainment that come with it. But there are a lot of factors that may affect this apart from just the technical side of it; things like a child's environment for example or the type of people that they're surrounded by

They often waste their time spending on social media platforms a lot. In my opinion, most of them do not like Reading.

I think teens read less today because it is easier to pick up a video game or watch tv. Welcome to the lazy era!!

They definitely read less now... This is the time when people want everything quick and instant. No time for reading and patience.

I actually think less despite the teens being given credit for some breakouts, I see it more young adults being the push.Teens are just to hyperactive for books lately.

My grandaughter is not a teen yet but read alot. She does have an ereader but likes both it and paper. She is always asking me for books. Since her mother is a single mother the Iphone and such may be a ways off and will keep her reading.

Reading printed books? Perhaps. Mostly, reading on social media or listening to YouTube, if that counts as reading. The habit of reading has decreased because there are more entertainment and distractions on social media nowadays.
