I think it is becoming more mainstream, with all the e-readers and blogs. People seem more eager to read.

I used to not want to want to be percieved as geeky but now I am fine with it. I guess reading is seen as geeky or not, depending on the people you're sorounding yourself with. I don't want to sound rude, but smart people would never consider reading geeky, it's something normal.

I think it has to do with what circles you travel in - I'm a graduate student, I work as a part-time archivist, and my undergraduate was in English literature - because of this, most of my friends, peers, and co-workers are pretty bookish. So in my circle, I wouldn't necessarily consider it nerdy or geeky in that there is no stigma attached; it's just a commonality that my friends share.
