1st person or a narrator?

Post by bookworm123 »

What do you prefer a 1st person telling the story or a narrator telling the story. I personally like the first person telling the story as he/she can share their feelings/emotions better than a narrator. So what do you prefer?

I personally like first person too. I feel more connected to the character in the book.

I don't think I have a preference, but writing as a narrator is considerably harder, and so it is more common to see bad books written from that point of view. Also, not every book could be written from a 1st person perspective, because that requires that the main character is involved in every scene -- nothing can take place without their knowledge. This can become a bit tiresome.

I don't really have a preference. I like first person because the main character is more knowable as mentioned above. But I also like narration, because I like to know what the other characters are thinking and doing. Narration does give the option of more than one story line as well.

I think it depends on the narrative. Both have their pros and cons depending on the story.

Narrator. I don't want to be limited to what one character knows, feels, or thinks.

I really think it all depends on the quality of the writing and my interest in the story rather than if it is 1st person or narrator. I remember reading a lot of the classics, like The Invisible Man, that are all told in 1st person very effectively.

Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.
