Sometimes when I don't have time to read or if the book is too expensive for me, I watch the movie first. If I feel like it's a good investment then I buy the book.

What about you guys? How do you tackle the book versus movie situation?
I prefer to read the book first. In watching the movie the understanding becomes clearer. Reading before watching works for me

Read the book then watch the movie. in most cases the book takes the price and the movie leaves a sour taste in my imagination. king solomon's mines provides a real adventure trip but the movie is half baked though.

Lol. Sour taste. For me, it happens sometimes if it’s a tragic story.

Read the book and then watch the movie so I have help visualizing the scenery and characters.

I would rather read first then watch a movie than doing the vice versa. But most of the time, I only read.

Watch the movie then read the book definitely. Because when it comes to watching, I do not like spoilers at all. Book spoilers are different because they are kind of different from the movie.

I think the book should come first. The last time I tried movie first, I couldn't get through ten pages of that book. Despite the fact that I enjoyed the movie.

I prefer to read the book first and then watch the movie. Occasionally, I have seen a movie first and then read the book. But I found out that I don't enjoy the book as much when I know what happens.

I would prefer to read the book first so that I am not limited by the movie director's visions.

Book first, then movie. But if I find myself watching a movie (without knowing that it was a book), then I'm likely to read the book as soon as I can.

Read the book for sure. I prefer the detail and the background a book can provide over a movie. I love to watch the movies but I feel as though they always miss or change something that makes the book great.

I prefer to read the book first if its something I really like. That usually leads to disappointment about the movie version though!

I've done it both ways. However, I recommend to people watch the movie first and then read the book because you'll very rarely be let down by the book as compared to the movie.

I agree, I find it easier to understand a characters personality in the book rather than on the screen.

I'm always about watching the movie first, and then reading the book, if I can. I usually will enjoy the movie, so long as I haven't read the book. If I read the book first, the movie messes up what I created in my own imagination and it's usually disappointing. Since the book always has more information and details, the experience you had watching the movie gets richer and there is something to add. There have been many instances where I didn't have the option, as I had already read the book. Sometimes, I get surprised...and actually enjoy the movie even after having read the book!
