Burning a book sounds sad. I had a book I needed to throw away, and throwing it out hurt.

For a great book-burning scene, read Rex Stout's mystery "Gambit." In the opening scenes, the detective Nero Wolfe makes a great show of burning an offensive book. It's hilarious.

No I have not, but in the electricity goes out in winter here, it will be the books before I freeze to death, that's for certain!

I have never burned a book and I never will. There are plenty of ways to dispose of them without burning them :)

I can't think of any reason why I would have a need to burn a book. What is the point?

Nope never burned a book. I don't think I have ever come across a book I found to be hateful or hurtful to someone. I have a hard time writing in a book when it's for school so burning would be very difficult. :D h

Only an old geometry book, haha. Books that I think are horrible I put down immediately and return it or lock it away somewhere.

Never. I have read about people burning books, but I have and never will. I will never burn a book because in my eyes it's quite mean to burn something you love, even if I hated the book it is still a book and I love to read. It would be like destroying my hobby.

That is an excellent idea when you get books that for one reason or another have become unreadable due to weather, water, mold, or heaven forbid, the neighbor's cat. I would bet that they would last fairly long too since I use shredded newspaper to start the fire in the fireplace. Great Idea!

I have never burnt a book because I love books very much In my opinion, books do not deserve to be burtn. If there is not enough sapce for the books, I can always give it to somebody.

I have never burnt a book, but I live in the big city. My mom lives in the country where they set leaf piles on fire, and stuff.

I have thrown books away--generally books that are deeply hurtful in nature. If I don't like a book but figure that someone else will, I add it to my donation collection for Sheltering Books in GA. If it were something of a personal nature that I wanted to destroy, I'd shred it.

I set fire to my '50 shades of grey' book because it romanticizes abuse against women.
So many books to read, so little time..
