I think it does. I mean not as an adult, but as a child.
When I was a child, I used to read lots of books, which I think aided my reading speed.

Yes it sure does. I would finish a book in a day or so if it was of around 200 pages and now i can read faster

I don’t think reading more book increases my reading speed. I have found that if a story is well written I read fast. When I read stories that are not well written and or a story doesn't hold my interest, I read slowly.

It sure does. Not only your eyes but your mind also gets used to it and builds up speed.

I believe it does, but if you don't like what you are reading, it will be slower.

From my own experience I would say the more I read the faster with rereads of books that I read and the terminology used in these books help my brain open up to new words which help build up my vocabulary and open our eyes to things around us. I would reading does not improve my overall reading speed.

Once I read a really good book I feel motivated to read other books, an therefore, I read them faster. This reading zone unfortunately only lasts a few books until I am back to a normal pace.

I know I've become a faster reader through the years. I still go through phases of needing to be a meticulous reader though. These are the times I relish every word.

I think the more you read, the faster you read. I'm comfortable with my reading speed but I can tell that is gradually increasing. It's been gradual over the years but I am noticing an increase as I read more.
All I need is a new book and a place to read it...

I find that when I'm reading a lot of books in quick succession I start to read faster out of anticipation for what's next.

The more you practice something, the easier it is and so the faster you can perform, which applies to reading as well as to any other activity. Also, the more you read the more discerning your tastes become, which helps you determine whether you'll enjoy a book or not when you're choosing what to read, and that can impact your reading speed as well.

In general, yes, especially if we're picking up books that really spark our interest. If we're reading just for the sake of reading but the books aren't that appealing, I don't think that our reading speed improves, on the contrary actually.
