Are you reading more during the pandemic or less?

Post by AutumnBussey »

I thought I would have more time at home for reading but have actually been busier than ever. Anyone else?

I didn’t have much time to read!I was so busy with helping around the house and making sure everyone was ok I didn’t get time to myself.

Honestly, it changes all of the time for me. At first, I was reading much less than normal. Now, I feel like I am reading more than normal.

When quarantine began in the spring, I was in isolation for two weeks because I had returned from another country.
So I was always at home and I had nothing to do. I started reading a lot, I did it all day.
But then the quarantine was eased, I started working. A lot of housework was added and in the summer it was difficult for me to make time for a book.
But I think that now through lockdown there will be many opportunities to read again :)

Im reading less because of the pandemic. I started a small medical assistant program to enter the medical field and keep myself sane while universities are closed. I have reading to for school and find the extra reading is draining. The pandemic kind of ruined my mood for extracurricular reading. I also have a hard time focusing with an anxiety disorder and mine is frequently going up and down. If I can find a place to focus and breathe, my reading could potentially go back to normal.

I thought I would be reading more during this pandemic, but it has been so stressful that it's hard to focus on anything. I'm finally getting back into actively reading and truly thinking about what I've read by starting up this account on here :D

Though it's more than how much usually read, it's still nowhere near how much I thought it would be. I've been putting most of the books from my tbr pile and instead I'm reading all sorts of random books.
The book to read is not the one that thinks for you, but the one which makes you think.

Honestly, I would have thought that I would be reading more since the pandemic, but I haven't. I've actually been busy. But do you know what's really interesting? Is that my job has actually given me more time to read and I've read more books in the last year (non-academic books) than I have in the last five years or so. Isn't that crazy?

Has your employment impacted the amount you read?

I’ve been reading more now that I’m WFH. I usually have a show on for background noise and don’t really have much interest in paying attention to what’s on TV when I’m not working.

That's so relatable! I thought I'd have tons of time to spend reading, but I just keep getting busier! Hopefully things will get back to normal soon so I can become a bookworm again...

I'm reading more at home during this pandemic. I guess, it's suitable and I don't want to waste anymore time to indulge in reading beautiful and engaging books. :)

I've been reading much more during the pandemic than before. 60 books in 2020 versus 10 in 2019. 9 books in 2021 so far.
