What Is the Next Book/Books on Your Reading List?

Post by Loveabull »

I have an ongoing wish list on Barnes and Noble.com plus like a ten page Want to Read list on GoodReads. I go to the library every week too. Between new library books and donations there are always yet more books for the nightstand...besides the ones I meant to read to begin with.
Do you have a list or keep in mind exactly what your next reading will be or is it just kind of hit or miss?

The next books I'm ordering from B and N.com are:
A Man of His Own-Susan Wilson
I loved her book "One Good Dog". This book appears to have a German Shepherd as the canine narrator. I enjoy how she switches narratives between dog and human so convincingly.

White Whine-Streeter Seidell
Either very funny or very sad...example "Don't you just hate it when you forget Porsche keys go in the left side?"

The Road of Lost Innocence-Somaly Mam
The author is sold by her grandfather as a child. In adulthood she escapes the Cambodian underworld to rescue women and children trapped in the sex industry.

101 Places to Get #$%&ed Up Before You Die-Matador Network
I will never climb K2. I will never attend Burning Man...still a lot of fun to read about such adventures though.

What are your next books?

Since I write such silly, comedic material, for recreation I have to read serious work, usually non-fiction.

Next on my reading list:
"Faust" by Goethe
"Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals" by Kant
"Stories the Iroquois Tell Their Children" by Mabel Powers

I sometimes know for sure that 'X' is my next book, but it almost never is.
Somehow I'm not able to read books in a certain order. It depends on my mood, how busy I am but mostly on the book I finish which book will be next.

I also have like a 10 page to-read list on Goodreads, so I don't know where I'll end up next. It also depends on my mood...lately I've been reading some erotica (that wasn't very well written) so I'm feeling in the mood for something immersive. I just started Lord of the Flies last night; amazingly I never had to read it in school so I thought I should cross it off my reading bucket list. I think next I will read Hammer of Eden by Ken Follett.

I actually have a list on goodreads called "bedside"; these are all the " to read" books sooner rather than later. It's mostly full of books I've acquired and never read through the years. It's kind of my resolution to get through a good chunk of them this year. The ones I've been eyeing the most are probably...

The Piper's Son by Bruce Fergussun

Bestial by Ray Garton

Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith

The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout

Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea by Barbara Democrats

I know it's a bit of a list, but the actual list is over 40 books lol.

I don't even want to think about it :-S if I do, I'm just gonna start reading it or order it online if I don't have it. And I'm already reading 3 books in parallel right now. My record was 5 so I can still work up to it right?

I have a lot of books that I want to read, but don't seem to have them prioritized. The next book I read will be whatever jumps out at me at that moment.

1. Demain by Hermann Hesse
2. Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
3. 2001: A Space Oddyssey by Arthur C. Clark
4. If on a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino
5. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
6. Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl
7. Paradise Lost by John Milton
8. Hyperspace by Michio Kaku
9. The Kingdom of God is Within You by Leo Tolstoy
10. The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

I'm not that strict in following these though. I have a list up on goodreads, mostly as a reference not to forget to read most of the books.

I normally have a list of books I want to read, but then never actually read them! For the majority I read free downloads available for the Nook or iBooks which tends to work well for me. In my actual list my next books are Frankenstein, the House at Riverton by Kate Morton, and anything by Gena Showalter.

I have WAY too many books on my next reading list, however, here are the closest :P: Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, The Mark of Athena & The House of Hades by Rick Riordan, and City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare again.

I'm reading Banned books this year so Of Mice and Men, Catch 22, 1984, Animal Farm are on my list this year. BUT I also have The First Phone Call From Heaven, Legend, Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend and The Valley of Amazement coming soon. My to be read list on Goodreads is easily at over 70 books. So many books and only so many hours in a day.
All I need is a new book and a place to read it...
