How many books do you read at once?

Are there really many people who read more than one book at a time? I find myself too enveloped in one book that I simply cannot switch to another book and miss what's happening in it. How do you manage if you do? Surely you are bound to get confused?

The most I have read at once is three. One for school and two for pleasure.

I used to never read more than one book at once but a friend introduced me to the idea. It can be pretty entertaining, but I would be sure they have substantially different plots otherwise things can get a bit tied together. I'll usually be reading 2-3 fiction books and one or two non-fiction.

I can have a different book I'm reading in literally every room of the house, purse and locker at work too.

I tend to read at least 3-5 books at once. If after the first chapter or two and the book hasn't caught my attention I will then move on to another book, and then occasionally come back to it. Also I am sometimes in a mood for a certain type of book and will gladly start a new book depending on the mood. I don't think that I could ever read less than 2 books at a time.

I am currently reading 3 books. Two of them I should finish up today, the other probably tomorrow. If it is a really good book, I will stick to just that one, rereads are the multiples.

I find myself reading more than one book at a time. Since I have a kindle, an ipad and an iPhone there are different books going on each. Plus if I'm at the store I may pick up a fourth. Depending on where I'm at, that decides what I'm reading.

Maximum 2. One at home and other when I have a free time at office or while traveling. But I make sure they are of completely different genre.

I try to stick with one, but may have two going - one fiction and one non-fiction which is usually something to do with food and health. Every so often somehow I find myself with an additional one or two.

I read 3 - 4 books at a time, dependent on my mood and which genre I feel fits my interest. I have a book or e-reader with me at all times, and books scattered through my house. There are times when I pick up a book and cannot put it down, leaving the others to wait until I finish it. When I go back to another book though, I am able to pick up where I left off without confusion.

I used to read multiple books at a time, but lately only one at a time. Except if school requires a book, then two.

2 or 3. I am usually working my way through a nonfiction book (slowly, because I read those to learn something) at the same time that I am enjoying a novel. Sometimes it happens that I start another novel before finishing the first (frequently because I've forgotten the first one at home and 'have to' read something else while out somewhere) and so wind up with three in progress simultaneously. As long as they're all distinctly different, I don't normally have many problems with this.
