I will read a book recommended by someone random. As a matter of fact I have learned about so many good authors that way. If I am reading a book and a person approaches and recognizes the author then I feel pretty confident that they can recommed some good reading.

Depending on the credibility of the person saying it and the genre of the mentioned book, i would love to try it out. :)

Of course! But not because I am influenced by the comment, rather with an aim to check it out on my own.

Of course, I have found so many great books and amazing authors that way. If it wasn't for a recommendation I would have never found David Eddings Belgarid series.

Absolutely. In my opinion, there is nothing better than a book. Even if I haven't read a book in a while, when I finally get back to reading, it's like coming home. I don't care who recommends a book, I'll definitely give it a try.

A lot of books that I have read have been from random people. I read The Lovely Bones because of someone random, and I was very pleased with the story line!

Rarely. Unless there conviction and narrative was so compelling. Most of my reads are by word of mouth, a select group of wordsmiths who enjoy plays, movies and Cable series that have riveting dialogue, great character development, and complex layers.

I have to admit that I really would ( if I could remember the title!) I love to read, and am usually up for anything, including reading the back of cereal boxes!! So when someone says " hey I read a good book" even if it was someone random.. I'm all ears!

Some of the books I have listened to have been suggested by complete stranger's and they have turned out to be some pretty good book's.

One of the best books I've read recently was because I saw someone reading it on the T (the subway, to those of ya not from the hub) and asked what it was/what he thought. Black Hole by Charles Burns. Really interesting graphic novel, takes place in Seattle in the '70s, uses a very strange STD as a really interesting metaphor, very cool and kind of disturbing...I'm describing this poorly but I'm a random person and I'm saying it's good so you should all go read it now!

I've never had someone random recommend a book, but I don't think it would hurt to at least look it up.You might end up loving it as much as that random person.
