There is one book that I started to read years ago and for some reason I stopped reading it and I plan on rereading it but I still haven't gotten around to it because I keep buying new books that I usually read right away.

No, but if I read it again, sometimes it feels like I understand it differently the second time around.

I was halfway through 'Anne of Green Gables' when I was 16. My sister hid it from me and I couldn't find it, so I ended up finishing it when I moved out at 18 and bought my own copy.

The sad part is that I am guilty of reading just the information that I need to get a job done then tell myself when I have time I will read more... ahem.... I have a shortage of that time stuff...

This has happened with a lot of the classics such as "The Three Musketeers" where I couldn't get into the book as a teenager but got through it just fine as an adult. At some point, I may get through Don Quixote.

I read the trilogy by Bryce Courtenay...The Potato Factory, Tommo & Hawk and Solomons Song. The first 2 was read fairly quickly but Solomons Song .....uhmmm that book was on my bedside table for almost a year. I finally locked myself away and worked through that book!
Most enjoyable!!

Thank God my mom forced me to take speed reading classes or I would never get anything done LOL Sometimes though I re read books that I have read just for pleasure of experiencing it again.
I haven't either but it seems I might break the record.

I only do that when I find a book uninteresting or boring in some kind of way. When I leave it and come back after years , it's usually by accident and when I come back I find that I enjoy it a lot more or I know fully that the book isn't my type. Most of the time though, it's a book that just needs some space

I used to always finish every book I read. Then, I went to college and often the class was only required to read parts of books, several short stories, some plays, or if I had purchased a compilation of books within a large book, I would only be required to read some of the books, not all. At first it REALLY bothered me, but, as there was not much I could do about it because I did not have time to finish them, I learned to ignore not finishing them. Many of them are still unfinished, but someday...
