In my experience, J.R.R. Tolkien and Terry Pratchett have some amazing world-building techniques which make their fantastical world not simply believable but also engrossing.

Shakespeare! I remember our drama professor had us stand in parallel lines facing each other. He gave us a paper full of Shakespearian words / language and told us to throw insults at each other. It was hilarious!

JRR Tolkien, Brandon Sanderson, and I recently reviewed a book called We Are Voulhire (I believe the author is Matthew Tysz), and the world-building was fantastic.
