Another one which had moved me was 'Room' by Emma Donoghue. This was a book which had me really disturbed cause I coudn't even imagine surviving such an ordeal. Also the narration by a child who had never seen the world outside was heart breaking.

If you goggle the Dyatlov pass incident which took place in 1959 you can get a better sense of what disturbed me and depressed me because this was true events. However the author made this into a fictional love story.
