The book that had disturbed me was One Moment, a story about traumas.

I was Doctor Mengele's Assistant. This book haunted me, it was months before I was clear-headed enough to read anything else.

I have read many books that made me feel depressed during and after reading. The book that stuck with me most is an Afrikaans book - ‘Dis ek, Anna’. The book is based on her life and it's just very disturbing.

A Thousand splendid suns by khaled hoseni. Depressing doesn't even begin to cover it. It was too much that I cried for 3days straight after I finished it.

I got disturbed by second book in Dexter series. I am normally not bothered by description of violence but here it was making me sick. What was done to the victims was just too disturbing and Dexter's attitude towards it wasn't helping either. I am not surprised they went with another story in the TV adaptation.

In 2022, I think nothing was more depressing than Hurricane Season by Fernanda Melchor. This one really hits you hard.

I'm reading a book right now for review that is seriously bringing back old memories that are not so pleasant. I'm going to have to ask the author to put a warning on it... that it can trigger flashbacks if you have had similar experiences dealing with certain types of people!

Where Things Come Back. I thought about this book for days afterward. It also made for a really exciting read.

One book that immediately comes to mind is "120 Days of Sodom" by the Marquis de Sade. It's a notoriously graphic and disturbing work, with graphic depictions of torture, sexual violence, and other unspeakable acts. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, and I would strongly caution anyone against reading it if they're easily upset or disturbed.

The book that depressed me too much would be No Longer Human. It's a novel that I've read a long time ago. It was depressing, there are times when I could relate to the sentiment of the character.
While the book that disturbed me too much would be St Augustine's Sin by Joseph Baker. It's one of the most recent books I have read and reviewed. It's a very engaging read despite its disturbing nature. One of the best books that are definitely a must-read.

I fell into a reading slump after reading Into the Dark by Dana Isaly. The book was very dark, did not have a happy ending, and severely depressed me. I will add that the book was fantastic, but it hit me in a very deep way.
