I personally do not normally like getting books as gifts because people do not usually know my taste. I have gotten books though as gifts and surprisingly enjoyed most of them! I do agree with you though... gift card to a book store is a great gift if you ask me!

I would much rather have a $50 gift card to my local bookstore than a book. People don't usually guess my taste, I barely know my taste. So why try to hypothesize, a bookshop gift card would be the perfect gift idea

I don't mind receiving books as a gift. However, if i must gift it out, I must make sure the recipient is a book lover so it doesn't end up in the bin.

I love it when people give me books, I feel like it is such a personal gift and it allows me to connect with the person who gave it to me.

I totally agree that books are great gifts. There's nothing like sharing knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment.

If I am close enough to know what taste the I gift to likes, I think it's good. Books are good gifts. They don't run out fast.

Hi! I would only buy a book for someone knowing that they really want a specific book or if they like a specific author.

I think books are great as gifts as long as you’re sure the recipient is going to be interested in that book. I’d say, in general, gift cards for a bookstore are a better alternative because then the person can choose whatever book they want.
