I think it can be quite rude. If I was sitting watching a movie people know it's rude to come into the room and start talking over the TV. It's the exact same thing when I'm reading. Unless it's something pressing or important or I'm being rude by ignoring you (bf just got home and I didn't say hi, etc.) just leave me be.

I don't mind being asked a question but if you can see I'm reading and then continue to talk about nonsensical things then I get frustrated. Each to their own I guess though.

Not only is it rude, it's incredibily frustrating. It's like when you're almost falling asleep, and someone starts talking, or makes other noises.

If I am immersed in the book, I find it very annoying when someone interrupts me...
That being said the context is a factor in whether it could be considered as rude. For instance, if I was at a family gathering and someone called to say that we are having lunch now, it would actually be rude if I ignored them to continue reading. If in a public place, I think your body language could hint at your approachability. If in the workplace and someone needs to discuss work-related things - that would be understandable. Perhaps choosing where you read is a factor too :eusa-think:

Yes, it's very rude. You're in your own little world. i think it's okay, if it's for something important, but god, when it is for something irrelevant, i want to burn them with heat vision.

Yes! I hate getting interrupted while reading, so I put on a sign "I do not exist" for them to know that I do not want to be bothered.

It really depends on the time and situation. If it is important, it does not bother me. If it is something silly, I get frustrated. Reading is my way of escaping and encouraging my mind to expand to new ideas. My reading, although is very relaxing, is very important to me just like someone not wanting to be interrupted while watching sports

I use to, same with someone watching TV or playing a game. My wife says that I'm too polite sometimes... I guess that I just appreciate people concentrating in something.

Wow, I do not think it is rude to interrupt someone reading. If I see someone who are very keen and very interesting to read that book, then I would know I should not interrupt.

Because I hate to be disturbed while reading, I consider it rude to interrupt others while reading. But many people, especially non-readers, do not get this.

I don't mind about it. If they interpret while reading, I will stop and hear them.

Yes, don’t interrupt me! I give my bf a pass when I’m reading next to him but everyone else should consider me closed when my book is open!
