Do you ever read just for pleasure or do you always read to review it?

Prior to joining OnlineBookClub, I read purely for enjoyment. Now that I've joined, I mostly read every book with the view of reviewing it at some point.
But every now and again, I read a book purely for my own interest. I find that I pay less attention to grammar or spelling errors and either enjoy the book or not, purely as a reader.
How about others? Do you do the same?

I always chose books that suit my interest, so I read for pleasure. The tokens are plus.

Same, I always try to choose a book of my interest so I can enjoy while reviewing. Sometimes I really need other books that aren't on the review list. I read it way quicker when I do it just for pleasure!

Oh, that's an awesome way to approach it. I've been trying to do that but now and again I get a book that I get bogged down in but feel obligated to finish it to finalise the review hehe.

Yeah, I think I do, too, I'm not looking for errors or thinking about how to review it. I like having two separate purposes :)

I am new to reviewing books, but the ones that I have chosen to review I picked because I felt I would enjoy reading them. I usually view reading as a way to give me a break and relax, so whether I am reviewing it or not, I want to enjoy it. Since there are so many options, I may change my answer in the future though. I am hopeful I will find some new authors that I can follow through here that I wouldn't have stumbled upon otherwise. Once I find an author I enjoy, I try to consume everything they write.

I have only recently started reviewing books. Before that, I had always read for pleasure. With the book reviews, I find myself reading books that I would not have ordinarily selected, and I find myself thoroughly enjoying most of them. As a result, I am extremely grateful to Online Book Club for introducing me to new literature and broadening my horizons.

Hi Donna, I know, right? I've also read some great books from authors I haven't heard of before and even dipped my toe into some genres that I wouldn't normally consider (thanks, BOTD ;) ). This site is proving to be far more educational than I anticipated, so like you I'm grateful to Online Book Club.

So now, do you read every book as if you're reviewing it, or do you sometimes just switch off and enjoy the book for personal enjoyment alone?

I sometimes review books through annotating; and that alone, is my form of pleasure

I only came to consider writing reviews in the first place after a long time reading books for pleasure and nothing else lol. Now that I've just taken up this review writing side gig, the amount of time I can spend on reading books I'm interested in is surely going to reduce a lot, but it's not like I'm gonna run out of books I like to read for fun any time soon ^^' It will only come down to a matter of times, as always

I have been reading recently meanly for review and now I'm having a break and doing it for pleasure. My plan is to alternate both, don't want to feel that I have to read, I want to keep feeling that I do it because I like to (if it makes any sense).
