How Do You Feel About Booktok Books?

I've recently become part of the community of readers on TikTok, and I have found a few good recommendations. There are also a few that weren't that great. I think it can be very hit or miss. I find the app has plenty of really great books for readers of young adult, romance, and erotica. However, I feel like there isn't much besides that.

Does anyone else use the app for recommendations? If so, which genres/accounts do you recommend? Thanks!

I didn't know about this (to be honest, I don't have much experience with TikTok) but it looks interesting to, at least, keep an eye on. I may be old school but I keep relying a lot in the word of mouth and forums (specially enjoying this last option since I joined here).

I am hesitant to trust Booktok's recommendations because I have found in the past that most of them are overhyped and stereotypical. I like to branch out and try different genres, authors, and especially minority authors but I find that Booktok recommendations are typically all the same premise and the same 3 popular authors.
