If I Pay Thee Not in Gold by Piers Anthony and Mercedes Lackey. This is hands down one of my favorite books. I reread it all the time because it has an interesting plot and is a deep allegory of social injustice in our world. It's a fantasy novel that contains a polyamorous triad at the end. It is also highly feminist. Thematically, I recommend it for ages 14 and up though I read it for the first time at age 12 (I knew too much at that age).

For me, I love short inspirational stories so I would go for Frank Mihalic's 1000 Stories... Such a great book!

I enjoy re-reading The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is brief, but heartwarming. It brings back my inner child every time I re-read it.

Probably a book from the Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer, Or part of the Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling. I've read at least one from each more than three times a year. Hoorah for infantile reading!

Nothing wrong with enjoying children's books or young adult literature. There's good reason there's so many classics in those genres, and so many contemporary award winners too. I've loved JBS Haldane's My Friend Mr Leakey ever since I read it as a kid. Still have my copy of it around here somewhere, it's so old it's falling to bits.

So many different books in this topic. Always interesting to consider different books, coming from different perspectives. Reading a lot of the previous posts, there's quite a few where I nodded in agreement. Others where I didn't, but where the opinions made me think about my opinion, and a couple where I looked up a book to learn more.

I have a number of books I reread regularly, my 'desert island' books. Chief among them are Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita and William Thackeray's Vanity Fair, books where I find something new each time.

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly has been an all time favorite for me. I have either re-read it or recommended it to friends multiple times. It is a sad book, about overcoming loss and finding courage to carry on when things seem bleak. The story is relatable to me in some aspects so guess I like it because it inspires me to keep going when things get tough.

I am always searching for a new book to read. But I've reread the All Souls Series by Deborah Harkness a few times. A powerful witch and a vampire with off-the-charts chemistry (throw in time-travelling). Yes, Please!
