I prefer paper back as it is easy to handle than hard cover. I also lie down in slanting position to read so paper back will be less heavy than hard cover.

Paperback book. I am comfortable reading a paperback book. I can easily read them with ease.

Fully agree on the getting a series in only one or the other. It's just so much more aesthetically pleasing if the books are all in the same format, & preferably all from the same publication. My collection of Witcher books in paperback from SuperNowa (the 2014-2016 covers, I think they are) look so damn pretty, but my copy of Season of Storms I got from my dad, that's still from SuperNowa, but from the early 00s instead, ruins it.
But personally, I'm more of a paperback guy than a hardback guy. Maybe it's because I have weak joints, but paperbacks are just easier for me to hold & read comfortably. I do own multiple hardbacks, though, & I do have to admit that hardbacks are often so much prettier. That is, as long as they don't have a cover sleeve. Cover sleeves are so annoying & get in the way, & the hard cover underneath is always just a plain colour. Penguin classics make the best hardbacks, since they don't have sleeves & have actual decorations on the cover. Just wish the little patterns didn't rub off on your fingers so much. My Penguin Classic copy of Alice in Wonderland looks horrible with half of the flamingoes rubbed off of the cover. Paperbacks don't have that problem.

I like to read ebooks first and then buy the hardcover if I like the book.

For research work, I love paperback; it will help me for reference. I like using paperback for reference. Others may have different opinions, though.

For books that I treasure, I will go for hardcover; the sole reason is to preserve them from the destruction of any kind.

It depends on the book. There's no way I'm getting myself a Harry Potter paperback.

But when it comes to self-help and business books, I find paperbacks more convenient.

I buy Hardcovers for Collector's edition in an attempt to beautify my personal library else paperbacks are my go-to covers.

Paperback for most books are fine, especially if they are gifts from others. Ebooks are good for indie authors and books that I don't know if I want to have on a shelf. Hardcovers are for books that I love want to keep in a collection. I upgrade the books slowly.

I usually buy paperbacks but I love hardcovers which are animated with drawings and maps.

Paperback! At least for active reading purposes. I tend to be pretty hard on my books since they go everywhere with me. It's just not worth it for me to spend a bunch of money on hardcovers. Plus, there is something nostalgic about worn and torn, dog-eared, well-loved books. <3

I will say paperback. It's so easy to carry and go everywhere with it. But I have a dream of having a massive library, so am getting hardcovers for the library.

I prefer paperbacks if I’m reading but I do enjoy a hardcover if the cover is designed well or if it’s a special edition of a book. I tend to reread my favourites so paperbacks sometimes end up a bit worn

Hardcover is my go-to as it is sturdier and can put up with more damage without show. I also love the old hardcovers when they are pale and see the signs of wear.
