I cried when I read Six Feet Apart by Rachel Lippincott. I think that has been the only novel that has made me cry.

I have cried after so many books from the first time I read Harry potter and deathly hallows untill now. But the book I cried for most was a book written in my native language about a traditional wife and how she was mistreated by her in-laws yet hoped for the happily ever after every girl yearns for. It was soo emotional.

There's this old book called Old Yeller, its about a dog that worms his way into the protagonists life, and let me tell you, by the end I was bawling my eyes out. It was such a good book.

Possibly every single Fredrik Backman book I've read, which is all of them. His writing style and the way he manages to sneak life lessons between the plot are so magical. Definitely recommend.

I read some of the comments above I would have to agree there are moments in Harry Potter that will make you cry as well as The lovely Bones and Steinbeck novels.
For me, I will never forget how I sobbed at the end of Where the Red Fern Grows. I was in third grade and I cried, I weeped uncontrollably at the end.

I am an overly emotional reader. I join the character in their skin. (That sounded much creepier than intended)
Many of Robin Hobb's books have made me cry including Fool's Errand.
I am not someone who searches out books for that kind of cathartic release, but every so often the right book will just hit you when you least expect it.

Only two books have moved me to the point of crying: A Thousand Splendid Suns, and The Kite Runner. All two books were written by Khaled Hosseni.

Reading his books made me develop a keen interest on Afghanistan.

I cry for almost any book (I'm really emotional with that kind of thing...I've even cried during adverts). The Harsh Cry of the Heron by Lian Hearn, PS I Love you by Celia Ahern, the end of the Tears of Artamon trilogy by Sarah Ash, Harry Potter...the list goes on and on...

I have never cried while reading a book. If someone can recommend one that would be great, because, I would love to actually experience that feeling, hopefully someday.

"Mi planta de Naranja Lima" by Jose Mauro de Vasconcelos.
The hardship the main character had to endure at such a young age it gets me every time.

Several books have activated my tear glands, but few come to mind now. Zoya by Danielle Steel and Sarah J. Mass' Throne of Glass series.

The book I vividly remember as being THE book that made me cry was Treasure in an Oatmeal Box by Ken Gire. Given I was in elementary when I read it and one of the primary characters in the book is named Kevin, and I associated him with my cousin Kevin, whom I was really close to at the time.
