A lot of books have made me cry actually. To mention a few, I would mention The Button serious by Penelope Sky, The Golddiggers by Sue Nyathi, and Milk, bile and honey by Nomzamo Dube.

Nervous Conditions by Zimbabwean author Tsitsi Dangarembga. I saw myself reflected in the main character and the psychoanalytic richness of the text.

There have only been four books to make me cry: Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and The Fault in Our Starts by John Green. If you haven't read any of these please do if you like coming of age fiction. But be warned! You will probably cry if you have a heart

I don't usually cry because of books, but A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara made me cry like a baby. I don't recall any other book that's made me cry. As for books that have made me sad and gave me that clenching sensation at the chest, however, that's a long list.

The great gatsby definitely made me cry. The ending of his life was saddening

I hardly sob over a book but Chimamanda Adichie took me to the depths of impossible realities in Purple Hibiscus. I shed tears of outrage and indignation.

There's a book I read when i was young. It was titled Truly Yours though I can't recall the author. The book was completely a representation of my life. At times i think maybe I imagined the plot. I have tried searching for it but haven't found it. I hope i one day find it.

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. I remember I was 13 years old at that time I read Oliver Twist so it was easy for me to put myself in young Oliver's shoes. I couldn't imagine a child going through so much pain and suffering, let alone an adult. Still reluctant to repeat it up to now.

There is a book called Mpho's Search by a South African author called Sandra Braude, it didn't really make me cry but it's a really sad story I know will get a lot of readers crying.

Between Two Kingdoms by Suleika Jaouad

A few months ago I lost my sister to cancer, in this cancer survivor's story, she talks about grieving the loss of her best friend to cancer. It was an eerie feeling. She also talked about her best friend's parents experience and them grieving their loss. It hit real close to home.

The first book that made me cry was The Elf Queen of Shannara by Terry Brooks. People who've read it would know that the ending was tear jerking. I also felt horribly bad when I read The Perks of being a Wallflower

Funny enough, I’ve never had a book make me cry. Movies? Yes, more than once in fact. But for a book? I always manage to tear myself away before that happens.

Mine was Perks of Being a Wallflower by Boynes.

To be fair, I was young and depressed and reading a coming of age novel with a young and depressed protagonist, who had similar character traits as me. So it was easy for me to be in his shoes.
